Featured Replies

I just got my HTC Desire last week, and I am completely glued to the screen! I'm constantly finding apps I want to install and try out for myself! It's sooo cool!

Apps that I would suggest are:

  •
  • pMessenger - exactly like BBM except you can't msg BB's but you can with iPhone!
  • Google Goggles
  • Advanced Task Killer
  • 1337 pwn (find out which friends have signed onto xbox live
  • Astro
  • BatteryTime Lite
  • Bay-Connect 3-4-5
  • Call Meter NG
  • Dolphin Browser HD
  • Droid Fit (if your at all interested in working out and excercising, this app gives you pictures of many excerices for different parts of your body)
  • Facebook
  • eBuddy
  • Frozen Bubble
  • GameBoid Lite (GBA emulator)
  • FX Camera
  • Google Mail
  • Google Sky Map
  • Handcent SMS - changes tx interface to replicate iPhone but this one's better LOL!
  • Layar
  • Lattitude
  • Lightning Bug - plays soothing sounds as you sleep
  • London City - tube map and updates, route planning
  • Nandos Finder
  • Fast Food
  • Movies
  • IMDB
  • Photobucket
  • Photoshop Mobile
  • RAC Traffic
  • Shazam - identifies music just by listening to it
  • Sky News
  • Springpad - notepad
  • Touiteur - best Twitter app!
  • Wordpress

Anyone else out there have an android phone? Which one? Thoughts on it, recommended apps?

Just had my forst android phone this weekend! Still fiddling around with it.

I have the facebook, twitter and wordpress, dropbox apps so far!

Only issue i have with the facebook app is that I cannot post as my Web Design Page...only as my personal profile which is a pain...

I will be installing a few apps to help me with my work this week...

Do you know if the Google maps/sat nav stuff is in with the cost of data? Or is it seperate?

I have the Samsung Galaxy S and it's awesome!

Got a HTC Desire running rooted froyo and love it :)

Welshhuw, afaik, it's included in any bundled data you have, but Google Maps uses quite a lot I think.

I mainly have social apps, facebook, twidroid etc. Also have dropbox and evernote. And google skymap is pretty amazing.

want to get htc evo but not out in the uk...yet :(

I don't think the UK networks will provide service for the Evo anytime soon I'm afraid because of it's 4G feature.

Dropbox and evernote..might have to give those a try.

@welshhuw - I was going for the galaxy s as well but I saw that it didn't have a notification light LOL! I just love notification lights so I went for the Desire instead. ANDROID FTW!

Twidroid is very popular, hdougie what's your username and I'll follow you. :blush1:

I'm not bothered, happy with my desire as it is haha... and the latest froyo update just gave it 720p video recording too, and the framerate really aint too shabby :) better than I thought it'd be.

And I'm stuck between twidroid and tweetcaster Ren, I like them both lol :p but my twitter is http://twitter.com/hdougie

I do I do I do and I love it. Got the Samsung Galaxy, not the most amazing but android and all the apps have definalty come in handy. I actually use many of them.

I think the battery life is a bit poor...Is it possible to buy an upgraded battery..been on charge 3 times today so far!

Battery life can be poor on desire at times too. I used to have to charge twice a day, then after burning in the battery after a few charges, it went to only once per day. Now that I'm rooted, I've installed setCPU too, and setup a profile so that when my screen is off, the CPU is underclocked to 245mhz, and it saves SO much battery... my phone used to use around 30-40% overnight, whilst I was sleeping... basically doing nothing... But since I've installed setCPU and that profile, it only drains by like 5% tops overnight :)

Anyone know what the Wildfire is like? Was planning on asking for it for Xmas from the wife.

The WildFire is essentially just a budget version of the Desire. I've heard good things about it, I'd say go for it if you can't afford the desire, it's supposed to be similar in a lot of ways.

I just installed android on my HD2 today and i am very impressed, it hasn't got all the functions i don't think but it is pretty amazing, so much better than windows mobile!

Wildfire here. It's my first smartphone, and I'm finding it very frustrating so far!

Wouldn't recommend trying to conduct your work-related communication through it until you've got the hang of the sensitive touchscreen.. My clients must think I've turned into a complete numpty the past week, with all the mis-spelt and half finished e-mails!

HTC Legend is what it is - A Legend!!!! Beautifully assembled phone

Highly recommend!

Also got a HTC Legend.

And i agree with the comments mentioned here!

Just as good as a iPhone in my eyes!

720p recording?? :o

I've had an android since the days of the T-Mobile G1, now i am using a HTC Magic, got an upgrade soon so might go with a Desire but it's too big to be honest. I like smaller phones! :p
