February 14, 201016 yr I'm sorry, you have clearly put in a lot of effort, but it doesn't do it for me. The cliparty clouds don't sell the quality message. I know you will probably change the content but I wouldn't choose to have a dead site in number one position, I'm not even sure I would include it in your portfolio. I don't get what the dates do. Your old site was even more date oriented. I preferred your old site. sorry if this seems to negative.
February 14, 201016 yr Author ha ha fair enough. Design is by far my weakest point unfortunately! I did spend a while doing it, but that's just because I'm not amazing at design! The dates are simply there to show it is updated regularly with work. I have edited it to have a hello blurb at the top but thats not finished atm and I might wait till I have more feedback to see if that works ha ha. The main thing I don't like about my old site is the big date bits! I want them in their to show regular updates and a more blog style home page. However I just think the old design is really bland! I am looking for a job in the near future so am hoping to build an attractive and fun page that exhibits my talents with code as much as the design. Thanks for your feedback. February 14, 201016 yr I'd have to agree with HogIt. I can clearly see the effort, its right there! Yet it does nothing for me im afraid. Stick at it tho, lets see what it comes out like.
February 14, 201016 yr Author right I might have to go away and rethink the look. I know it might not be up to scratch, but is there absolutely nothing that anyone thinks can be salvaged from this to another?? I am pretty gutted that there is absolutely nothing that is any good about it!

February 15, 201016 yr Have you really been doing web design since 1999? seems he is stuck at 1999.. In my opinion, the design fails, you need to redesign it again, have a look at the new design trends at the web and start from sratch, build on a single idea that you like until it grows into something amazing.

However I was 13 so its not like I was hardcore into it its more of a progression in the last 4 years. @makemeawebsite I am not a designer, I am a developer. I also said the design was scrapped :s I have been looking at design trends and coming up with things, then posting them on here to see if I can get useful feedback not snide remarks!!!
February 15, 201016 yr If you are designing for yourself then you only have to please yourself. In general if you find the design pleasing go with it. As you gain more expeience you will revisit your old sites and think "why did I think that was good"? I know cos i'm still doing it after more years than I care to mention. Please don't be dis-heartened by the negative feedback. If you hadn't mentioned that you wished to use it in job applications I might not have provided a critique. In a previous life I was responsible for recruitment. You have a very short length of time to impress .... there are usually so many applicants. I'm afraid your original design would not have received a second glance from me. Remember you are selling yourself, this site is not a blog. You need to demonstrate that you can provide designs suitable for corporate clients, and you need to demonstrate that you have mastered the skills that you are marketing.
February 15, 201016 yr Author @hogIT I am very pleased with the feedback I am getting and am very greatful for it. It does help in wake me up to the fact that it needs redesigning. I will be keeping the design for something more like a nursery ha ha I am actually good at taking constructive criticism -- you have to be in any design and development job, what I dont enjoy is little snide remarks! I just think its petty and a waste of both my time and the other persons :s
