Hi guys I would like to purchase a domain name and currently have an account with 1&1 but is there any advice I should follow when deciding whom to purchase my domain from?

As long as the company is reputable, then there isn't really much to it.

 

The hosting however is a different matter!................

Oh really? whats with the hosting Helen? any pointers for that? you making me nervous now ha

He he..... I'm just saying beware with who you take your hosting from.... I have seen a lot of topics on here where people have had problems with their hosting companies.

 

I'm not bashing 1&1, I'm on about all the companies out there

Personally speaking stay away from 1&1 their panel is very difficult. I'd reccomend 123 Reg, good prices and their panel is pretty good to be honest.

thanks guys! biggest problem I have with 1&1 is the coms breakdown on the phone support. Will check out 123reg cheers.

123 Reg has an easyier control panel to use. Whereas the 1&1 panel is horrid, thus you shouldn't ever need to call 123 Reg's support

I would like to share some experience with you.Before registering a domain you need to check these things like make sure that register your domain with a reputable domain registrar. But remember that popularity is not the same as reputability .Then be sure that registrar is inclined to check with the customer (you) whenever there's a potential problem before just taking action that could ultimately prove very costly and damaging to you.Check on privacy policies of registrars, both in terms of what they claim to provide for privacy protection and in terms of their actual demonstrated performance in that area.Do not use domain registrars' privacy services where your name doesn't appear on domain registrant information. The information about the registrant in domain registration records which is what shows up when someone runs a 'whois' query is basically the primary record of who "owns" the domain name.I suggest you to purchase the cheap domain from site 9cubehosting.com with good service which i experienced .You can try this for you domain registration

Where did you come across 9cubehosting? Their site seems like a resellerpanel service which is a reseller for hosting & domains and not something to recommend using as a main domain registrar.

Domain: 123-reg - I've never had any problems with domains registered with them.

Hosting: for the last 3-4 years I've been with http://www.csnewmedia.co.uk/ - nothing to complain about

Flippa.com is the best place for buing old domain name in cheap rates. There are lot of other sites form where you can buy the domins.
