is insurance a must for the self employed web designer working from home? the more i read into freelancing the more it seems i need to do and the more headache it becomes =(

yes it is very helpful to control your financial conditions.

I actually am wondering for consulting work (prior to any work being undertaken) whether it is worth looking into some kind of consultation insurance? - in case you get sued retrospectively for some advice that didn't work out.

its called professional indemnity insurance.
