TIA

I notice you are using Sarif font(with squiggly bits)- probably Times New Roman.

I always think that sans serif is clearer like Arial or Helvetica.

Many sites like this one (webdesignerforum) use sans serif.

It was supposed to have been sans-serif. just checked the code and i'd forgotten tp specify, cheers for pointing that out. :-)

You've got some margin or padding in #bar that's making it move down a little.

Hi Darren,

The main issue for me is the blue. i know I keep repeating myself but blue is a difficult colour to give a professional appearance especially in this mid tone. I took a screen shot and spent 20secs in PS for you (so not perfect LOL) - but I think something like this now looks more appealing.

Cheers for that. It actually turned out to be the social add button, so I've binned it.

Hi Darren,

It a nice improvement on the previous design. If it was me I would make the body text a point or 2 smaller. This would make your site look slightly neater and also make your headings stand out more. Maybe increase your leading slightly.

Good design though. I especially like the link at the bottom of the page! LOL

Again, I think it would look better with another colour instead of the blue, maybe something a little more neutral.

I would also reduce the size of the text to maybe 12px, especially under services and then space them out a little more.

Cheers guys,

I've reduced the font size and have to agree, it does look a lot better.

i can't believe no-one likes the blue. I thought it was nice and vibrant and gave a good contrast to the black without being too in your face.

@neil thought you'd like that. lol.

I like the design, Very clean and not to complicated, I looked at the sourcecode and used firebug (firefox add-on) and to me it looks very well coded. I also tried it in different browsers, Safari and I.E 7. Works perfectly. Well done :D

Well, having listened to everybody, I reluctantly decided to remove the blue.

What do you reckon now?

The glow on the top image is cut off at the edges, would look a lot nicer if it went all the way around the side of the image imo.

Yeah I thought that too, but when I put the glow round the sides it didn't look right with the content and moving the content to allow for a glow round that looked absolutely cr@p.

Decided to change the banner and get rid of the glow instead.

So much better. The black is a bit too 'aggressive' I think and I've added a little shine to the logo.

Cheesr for the feedback,

I've changed the background to a grey instead of the black. I liked the touch to the logo and have done something similar.

Remember that very many publications and international black and white websites don't use black on white for the text, though it may appear that way, you'll notice that they use a colour slightly 'off-black', so try reducing how black it is a little bit, might make it a little easier to read, and less harsh on the eyes :).

i've gone for #4A4A4A, does that make it a bit easier to read?

I'd go darker, don't make it grey, go for something like #0e0e0e.

its now #0e0e0e, TBH I can't see any difference, but I may have been staring at the screen too long lol.

It isn't too apparent, but trust me it does make a substantial difference.

It's definitely an improvement and has a very professional look, but maybe you could add in a bit of colour or a stand out feature to differentiate it and show off your design skills ?

Almost there. A few spacing issues for you to look at:

I have watched in awe as your website has improved in leaps and bounds.

I'm so jealous.

Will have to get the folks on this thread to have a look at mine when I get back from Australia.

Great effort all round.good.gif

Cheers, it has definitely evolved over time.

(you should have seen the version I had back in may - it was shocking lol)
