Hey guys,

 

I was posting here just to ask for some feedback on a design I've been working on today to try and build myself a portfolio. It's just a generic garden centre theme I'm using to try out this layout idea. The first version was originally taller but I cut the wood short and just made it a simple footer. I prefer version 2 though as I feel it's alot cleaner and generally looks nicer.

 

Any feedback, good or bad, is welcome. I want to learn from my mistakes

Version 2 is definatelly better. Did you think about change the backround on green? This grass looks strange. And I will change bottom. Generally site looks very nice.

I love the green grass, it makes me want to go and play frisbee in your web site,

 

not sure which I like best, they both look good, but i think i like the way the top one lets you wander down the page more easily, the green squares on the bottom one's lower content is bold so that it competes with the top half a bit

I like version 2...Could try adding some spacing between each box at the bottom though.

I like #2 aswell But I do think the content boxes at the bottom need changing a bit. Maybe play with the colour and spacing a bit.

no 2 looks better in terms of layout. Its way more organized in that one.

I actually prefer the first layout. Something a bit different from the three boxes at the bottom of the page layout which you see quite a lot now. There is nothing wrong with that, but I think the first looks more original. I guess it's down to which one you like best yourself.

The thing that puts me off the first layout is that it doesn't look how I imagined it would. The dirt is meant to look scattered but I didn't execute that effect very well.

Both are nice designs so I guess it's just working out what design would be most useful for certain content...

 

With this first one I would probably change the background of the lorem ipsum box on the left, maybe a white background with a darker contrast text or like layout 2's boxes. The thing in the middle...is that the result of an aggressive mole? Can't quite make it out

 

It's very clean and presentable on the whole.

It's meant to be as if dirt has been scattered to split the content. Didn't come out the way I planned.

 

Thanks for the comments, I think I'm going to try and use the same layout for my next design and see what I can do with it.

Not a bad start... 2 would be the best if the containers looked a little better, use curves like the purple box above it.

 

Put some info in your footer and do something with the phone number... it's just floating there.
