want a job in USA

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

i work in the uk as a web developer mainly html, xhtml, css, javascript but am learning asp.net c# and kentico cms on the job.

i want to know where to look for jobs in the USA, i want to work in New York or LA. Can anyone help?

It's difficult to say, it's not as easy as just wanting a job over there and getting one, many companies won't hire people who aren't already residents in that country, so you'll have to apply for a visa first or guarantee that you'll be able to get one when it comes to the time you want to start work. I'm not certain of any particular websites where you can find work in the US, but you should try websites like Craigs List, there are always positions available on there.

ps. don't set your hopes too high for getting a job in Manhattan/Los Angeles, they're very desirable places to live and get work...

My advice would be to go to Canada instead, the US is a scary place if you ask me. I'd much rather work in Toronto or Vancouver than New York or LA (I have been to all these places by the way). The Canadian work ethic is supposedly very good i.e. there is a great work/life divide.

Takes absolutely ages to get a visa in the USA as to Canada

I'm a Canadian web & graphic designer who has worked for 10 years in Montreal - great city - and who wishes to work in the U.K. Wouldn't it be great if we could exchange passports for a couple of months/years...

Ben.
