June 25, 200917 yr Hi everyone, Was reading abit on elance and similar sites (was bored ), and am suprised to see some people on there offering their services for as low as £2/hour. Now if your based in the UK, surely you cant do this, due to minimum legal wage, or does this not apply to those that are self employed? Reaper
June 25, 200917 yr it doesnt apply to self-employed people - effectively as a Sole Proprietor in the UK you are both yourself and a company. The "company" is what gets paid, which in turn pays you, and there is no minimum wage for a company.
June 26, 200917 yr Author Thanks php. Just something that came into my mind. I am looking at a few of my options for the future, but didnt wnat to end up getting into something illegal. I know ive done jobs in the past, that end up being cheaper than minimum wage when you are doing it by the job. Reaper

June 28, 200917 yr The problem with elance sites is that people there usually go for the lowest prices. I know I've done my fair share of elancing and whenever I had a higher price I lost the project. If you want to get work from such a website then you'll have to play by their rules... and number one is Price matters.
