June 16, 200917 yr attachment=4023:Internetexplorer.JPG]For some reason my website simply won't open in internet explorer. It brings up an error message and then doesn't complete loading the page. I know my code is a little untidy but it works fine on every other browser I have tried. I still need to put the PNG code in for my pictures to load up properly in internet explorer but then again the page should still load atleast. I am running Shadowbox and think this might be the issue however I am not in any mood to remove it because I only just got it to work. Please could someone take a look and see if the problem stands out at all. Thanks to all of you at WDF for all your help with fixing my portfolio site so far. You will all have a warm place in my heart and I plan to run a competition soon The prize being a gift voucher to order some business cards or something. Thanks again Luke www.motif.tv << The problematic website

June 16, 200917 yr Hi, Motif.tv I have a problem loading the page in Firefox browser. I don't understand why. What's your browser which you occasionally use? yy1993
June 16, 200917 yr Author It appears anything below that e.g 6 or 7 doesn't want to know. I was just in a meeting with someone and they wanted to take a look at my site and the error message happened. I came home and tested it thinking it was just their machine and the same happened again. So it appears to work fine on explorer 8 , firefox, chrome, safari etc but anyone running anything lower than 8 will not be able to view my site ! HELP ME PLEASE !!! cheers all
June 16, 200917 yr Author Hi, Motif.tv I have a problem loading the page in Firefox browser. I don't understand why. What's your browser which you occasionally use? yy1993 I usually use Firefox with no problem what so ever.
June 16, 200917 yr I usually use Firefox with no problem what so ever. I wonder what's the problem with it. Here's a screen shot of my Firefox 3 screen: It may not be due to browser problem in my case. It may be my IP address. I'm from Singapore. Any idea? I visited your website few weeks ago and it loads normally.

June 16, 200917 yr Thought it might... stupid Microsoft's JSCRIPT taking affect me thinks. Try moving the (javascript, for shadowbox) code to the end of the page before the </body> tag.

June 16, 200917 yr Author Try moving the (javascript, for shadowbox) code to the end of the page before the </body> tag. Moving the code seems to have done the trick! www.motif.tv/gogogo.html It seems to work if you click CV at the top right below the twitter feed my shadowbox works and the site loads up ! Fantastic thanks for the help

June 16, 200917 yr just looked at your site in ie8 and it was just a solid blue screen, clicked compatability mode and all seemed to work fine, although the blue seems to just go on forever.
June 16, 200917 yr Author The site is still being constructed so there is alot of blue past the content that is there already. I hope that is what you are seeing and not an actual issue with the page many thanks Luke
June 16, 200917 yr it's nearly all images! that's not the way to build a web site - you need some real text in there and you've just used pngs for everything when you should be using jpegs for pictures and other images with lots of gradients. it's slow to load, inaccessible and poor for SEO...
June 17, 200917 yr Sorry, but can anyone help me over here? I don't understand why I can't access to Motif.tv's website. I was able to access to his website a few weeks ago. I've tried using Firefox 3 and IE8, it doesn't seem to work for me. I think it's my internet connection that causes the problem. I've cleared my cache, my cookies and my pages history but to no avail.

That's fair enough what you're saying but i'm just trying to get it up and working and the layout is all images currently cos it's the only way to get it to look the way I want it to. I have tried using text styled with css but it still looks rubbish depending on what computer or screen res it is loaded at. Once I have got the site up and working I will certainly come to you for advice on using highlightable text but for now I am just trying to get it up and working with nothing necessarily being permanent in the meantime
June 17, 200917 yr ok Depending on whether you think the supplied rendering of fonts and other by a users chosen browser is not your concern as a web designer. You must flush this notion out of your head my friend. As a web designer you MUST look through the eyes of EVERYBODY not just yourself of a select majority. Make your sight "CLEAN", "ACCESSIBLE", "SEO FRIENDLY" and above all apply styling to which all content can be displayed no matter the users handicap. (i quoted the 3 above so you could google em lol)
June 17, 200917 yr Your site looks fine here in Firefox and Safari. I have not tried it in IE. From past experiences, lower versions of IE do not support certain scripting languages unlike Firefox and the others. I tried using javascript before and it works fine in Firefox, Safari but does not load well with IE6. IE is regarded by programmers as not being web standard compliant. Here's a site campaigning for not using IE. http://ripie6.com/

That is not a dig at anyone it just means it has to be exact to the book as IE renders JavaScript to Microsoft's Jscript.. what a bunch of idiots... "ooooo i've got lots of money, lets do everything completely different..." ....idiots...
