I know it's a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but I'm writing a blog post on CMS at the moment and just wanted some examples of CMS installation prices.

 

I'm talking Wordpress, CMS Made Simple, Joomla, osCommerce and custom ones.

 

You can PM them if you want, I just want to find out what range of prices someone would be looking at.

to just literally install the cms, default theme and go...? I'm not even sure if I would charge someone, they are all made to be easy to install in simple steps, would take me 5 mins - I couldn't even price per hour. To design a custom theme, install plugins, analytic setup (oscommerce), seo et etc and get it functioning how it needs to for the site purpose is another thing...

If it is a customisation, then it's a fixed fee of £25.00

Yeah I meant a custom theme... so you take a bespoke design and integrate it into a CMS like Wordpress or something. I just wondered what you would expect to pay for a top price, all singing all dancing CMS number.

£650 = custom WP theme

Depends on what are the requirements you have. Some client generalize ideas but somehow they seemed not to be that easy, then price has not been enough.

A lot of templates are good enough for a new website. Free or in the $100 range they can still be impressive with Ajax menus and effects. Just thought I would say so incase your considering going for a custom one on a low budget and new website that might not bring in profit for a while

The hosting package we offer, includes many installers for CMS systems, e-commerce packages, blogs and message boards. So in essence, installation is free with the hosting package. As for anything beyond that - lunch unfortunatally has a price tag

WP theme, around the £600 mark (depending on the level of functionality required)

EE installation, config and theme, probably more near the £800 - £1000 mark, again, pending functionality. It all depends on what features the client is looking for, and how much variety there is in the administration aspect re:Expression Engine. If they're just happy to have rolling blogs and a couple of static pages, that's pretty straightforward. If they want slideshows, contact forms, combined static pages and categories, newsfeeds etc...it all takes time, and time is money.

But what quality are they done at?

 

There is a guy in my area (just come out of uni) who does websites at £20 a go. Coded in tables, and looks ugly as hell.
