April 21, 200917 yr Hi, I have a friend who's got a little website hosted on BT Connect ( domains here are http://home2.btconnect.com/MYSITE ). He wants to buy a domain but host it at the BT Connect site so he doesn't need to shell out for hosting! Any idea if this is possible? I guess he'd be able to do a redirect but would that make his site pretty hard to find in google (he's not interested in SEO or rankings too much - it'll only be may be 70-100 people who'll be visiting the site anyway but he wants a easier-to-remember name) Thanks in advance, D.
April 21, 200917 yr Theres only 1 person who can answer this question: BT themselves. Nobody in the hosting business really touches BT at all and most of there offerings have next-to-no features at all, so there really not considered a "competitor" as such as its just an obligatory service ISP's provide.
April 21, 200917 yr I would say that getting cheap hosting would be a better idea. ISP's free space is notoriously slow and clunky and i would imagine SEO would be affected. Give me a PM if your friends after cheap hosting as have some space on offer
April 21, 200917 yr Get a proper hosting account and domain name. It's simpler and certainly less hassle.
April 21, 200917 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys. I'll suggest paying for hosting but as it's for a small club I doubt they'll be interested in paying for hosting!

Well to give an idea of cost our cheapest package is £20 a year (plus vat). If it's a non profit (registered charity) then we can do a discount.
