Re-design feedback

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I'm a self-tought web designer from Wolverhampton, unfortunately I don't really have any contacts/friends/colleagues in the industry which sometimes makes it hard to get constructive feedback for my designs. Usually I will use my clients for feedback but I have just re-designed my own website and I am the client! So, enough babbling.

I'd love some feedback on my new site. Suggestions for improvements, etc. etc.

Wow, really nice, professional looking site. Great logo/branding, not sure about the boy/girl colour change though!

I really like that. It's very clean and professional as well as being laid out well. However, is the menu supposed to display on two lines? Doesn't look quite right to me. Other than that, I can't really fault it.

EDIT: Just tested your site in Firefox and the menu issue I previously mentioned isn't there. It would seem it's displaying incorrectly in Safari.

Hi,

Ive just looked at your site; design wise its very nice; i like the female male symbols; they dont really have a purpose for your site but its a nice feature i think. As far as the portfolio goes; its a nice layout, what i would suggest though maybe is allowing the user to click the image to see a larger image; they get a far better impression of the work you have done if they can see the complete package rather than a snippet.

The SEO of the site could do with some work, if your not experienced with that e-mail me at colin@jarviswebandgraphicsolutions.co.uk - weve some great offers on so might be worth taking a look.

Thanks a bunch for that, i had my margins on the
not the . For some reason safari didn't like the margin on the li.

Thanks again

I am a creative person who enjoys applying that creativity to web design and anything else i get my hands on.

shouldn't that be a capital I?

Yep, looks ok now. Remember to do the same for the female stylesheet too though ;).

I know, I know... you asked about the design (it's fantastic btw!), but the copy, oh the copy!:

This is the online portfolio of Mitchell Renton. I am a freelance web designer living in Wolverhampton, I created CellarDoor Design in late 2007, the aim? To produce affordable websites that exceed my clients expectations. If you have a project that you think I could be of help with, why not contact me.

I have a real passion for web standards, accessibility and above all, great design.

If this copy was a web design it'd be beige, inaccessible and have a scrolling marquee! Liven it up, don't focus on yourself and don't forget to sell! :D

PS: May come across as abrupt, but on massive post-Easter egg sugar downer! ;)

Ha, great post. I agree with you, I have definitely focused on design more than content with hindsight. I was rushing to get the site live after the design was in place and possibly rushed the copy a little. I'll take a look and make some amendments. Thanks for the 'abrupt' comments!

Take it easy on those easter eggs.

I really like it. Clean and look professional. I think you can make the male or female image small. and align them with your menu. ;)
