Common XHTML and CSS Q and A's needed!

Featured Replies

I've pinned a new topic to this forum so we can list all the regular questions that keep getting asked. That way you can refer people to the thread instead of typing out the same old words over and over.

What I need from you is suggestions! Please keep them on topic for XHTML and CSS Q and A's only at this stage, we'll add similar thread for the other forums in due course.

So please add your suggestions in this thread and I'll update the main list.

What I'm looking for is...

1. The question

2. The link to the thread that answers the question

A few things which come up regularly ..

  1. padding and margins
  2. nuances of Firefox and Explorer e.g default margins etc

there are loads of replies, but I can't think of any definitive ones

Key CSS: IE issues:

- box model

- double margin bug

- self clearing floats

- phantom character bug

- how to avoid quirks mode

- scrolling input background bug (if you apply a bg-image to an input field, and overrun that field - the bg will scroll...)
