It might be time to do some business networking then!

 

See if you can locate any local business groups - these type of groups often have special meetings for small business owners to meet and "network" (ie making business contacts). Sometimes you might get a guest speaker as well! The whole point of this is to get known in your local community as someone who offers a service - eg web design. Take some business cards with you and hand them out to everyone you meet.

 

If they don't know you exist they can't hire you

You could always use a pay-per-lead service (I work for one based solely in the UK - cmypitch.com). There are others in America. They will give you people requiring quotes. Its up to you to try and convert the sales.

1st question, what program are you using to design sites? your code is un readable.

 

Your SEO is nil, no H1/2/3, no commas in your keywords and too many, no backlinks, your indexed but only just. your seo will certainly take a long long long time.

 

Usability, your drop downs are unreadable, everything jumps around when i hover and irritates me, there are basically no call to actions which caught my eyes.

 

if your as good as your portfolio suggests you need to totally start again.

okay i use Page Breeze HTML, WYSIWYG Software and Photoshop. I do have a partner who works with me...so he did duabiseeker and bftlive. I did myebookstore and it's ranking i think in the 500.000 in alexa which is not to bad...

 

well i will look into the mistakes i did! So you say shorten my keywords and put a comma in between, than create backlinks which i work on right now anyways...i submitted it to directories (are there any other places?) okay what you mean with the menues are unreadable??? like the style of them or the code?

 

Where should i place call to action? I have it ones on my free quote page??

 

Let me know what to improve and I sit right down and work it.

no offense intended but if you cant code, and you dont know anything about SEO then how can you be offering these services? I think this might be the main reason for your difficulty in finding clients. again no offense intended but thats the way it looks at the moment.

Make it user friendly. Everyone should be able to access it without wondering what the site is about.

Study the marketplace. We will build your site towards your customers.

Analyze Competition. We will bring your site into the top rankings of Google, Yahoo or MSN. Our team of Search Engine Optimization experts will do what they do best.

Make your site unique. With our HTML and Photoshop tools your site will be unique for sure.

Test and Re-Test. We make sure your site works before we launch it.

Before you hit the marketing trail I think you need to do all of the above. The 3 most important things, considering you're selling web design would be:

 

1. Fix the code and the navigation (the menu hovers crash over the text below - can't read them)

2. Work on the design so it is itself a showcase

3. Work on the copy (including calls-to-action) so it's selling its backside off

 

I honestly think you need to get the site sorted before trying to attract more visitors or you'll just see high bounce rates - remember it's better to get 1 visitor who buys than it is to get 1,000 who don't.

i messed up with my own site! The thing is I tried to take a big short cut this time. I tried to shorten the the wor by using wysiwyg...well after all this was crap not worth it....it made everything stupid i will go back to my dreamweaver cs3...

okay i worked hard and loaded up my index file! Can somebody check everything quickly like (meta tags, mistakes, code, etc.)

You have a few very very basic mistakes which worry me, especially if you are trying to make money from creating websites. Firstly dreamweaver is a wysiwyg editor, but that isn't really here nor there.

 

 

Right basic mistakes I wouldn't expect someone who is wanting to charge people for web work to do:

 

You have no Doctype.

You are not using alt tags.

You are using spacer images.

 

Other things that you shouldn't be doing:

You are allowing dreamweaver to generate the code for you.

You are using tables for your layout...tables are for tabular data not for design

 

So my advice is to go back to basics as your design is quite nice, but your coding is terrible and looking at it I suspect that for the most part you let dreamweaver make it for you. You need to learn how to code websites that not only look nice but also function correctly...as at the moment you don't seem to care about the accessibility or usability of your site at all.

check out htmldog like dizi said asap. learn (X)HTML and CSS, then you should have good foundations to work with.

tables for layout are a no-no. tables are for tabular data, not layout. use CSS to create your layout and styles.
