December 11, 200817 yr Hi all, I'm just having my first attempt at creating a WP theme. No massive problems so far but I want to change how some of these functions output but I can't find the relevant code. As an example I want to display the categories so I use <?php wp_list_categories('' ); ?> The thing is I want to change what it outputs (remove the <li> and change a little of the code) - anyone know the folder/directory those functions are written, one of the core WP files? Thanks guys

December 11, 200817 yr Definitely check out the codex (if you haven't already) Normally helps me out with most problems I encounter wp_list_categories here
December 21, 200817 yr Why would you want to remove the <li>? If you are planning arrange the navigation links side by side instead of top to bottom, you can do it without removing the <li>. Simply set float: left; or float: right in the li tag in the CSS.
