I have done some animation work and some basic website design with flash including some basic html work aswell. However, I really want to turn this small hobby into a side career, earnign some money on the side in my spare time.

 

I am interested in doing so freelance work but before I can do anything I need to improve my skills. If you guys could point me in the right direction or post some tips that would be great.

 

When I think I have a better hand on my skills, I will offer some free designs for people but really want to get better at web design first.

 

I have found that I am better at flash then coding normally however I am willing to learn what is neccessary.

2. buy mags

3. pick a design from csszengarden.com then try and understand that design by recreating it, you can learn the design step by step one, when you get stuck ask for help

The first thing to understand is that you can't "design" a web site with Flash! Flash is a method of creating animations, presentations or for displaying multimedia. As you've probably found you have to include a Flash movie in a HTML page.

I suggest doing a search on these forums as this topic has been covered may times already and it's a pain having to retype the same old things

If you excel at something then it might be worth specialising in that particular discipline - if Flash is your speciality then learning HTML/CSS will be valuable, integrating XML data into Flash movies as well. Also learn about accessibility implications when using flash on sites will be good.
