September 28, 200817 yr last night google updated toolbar pagerank... my home page went from PR2 up to PR 3 and my blog went from PR0 up to PR 2 anyone else increase?

September 28, 200817 yr Yeah - vividcopy went up from PR0 to PR2 which I'm not too unhappy about seeing as it's only been live for about 6 weeks and I think I've put about 4 links up on the tinternet - anyone would think you didn't have to run around the internet throwing random links around the place! Elanman it's probably an obscenity filter - no one wants to see your pants! If you like you can PM me with some details on your troublesome searches and see if I can help - no need to air even more of your dirty laundry in public!
September 28, 200817 yr Ha ha wizely, you're obsession with my pants is becoming slightly erotic! As for the search results, just local searches that I did quite well with have disappeared. This has only happened since I upgraded to Wordpress 2.6. My re-written urls no longer work so I have had to resort to &p=1 urls. I'm on a Windows server so that doesn't help either. Always worked before but not after the wordpress upgrade so I presume I may have lost inbound links/caches? Can't say I'm overly bothered to be honest and I'm moving to Linux hosting in November but it is still quite annoying. *any help with my site's copy won't harm though!*

September 29, 200817 yr Man to think I just launched my website, http://www.puredezigner.com back in the middle of July 2008. I remember reading about the PR updates that were taking place at the end of the July, that's when I was thinking to myself, man 3-6 months before the next update. But when I check my Alexa stat this evening I noticed something else. I just now finally had an update to my PR, From PR0 to PR3! It's a simple website based on CSS and XHTML validated web projects I have in my portfolio, non the less, I am very happy about this update to my first ever SEO efforts in web. I'd love to see examples and reports on how your current SEO efforts are going and possible results from from the latest Google PR update, please share your updates with us? Thanks, Curtis

September 30, 200817 yr Hey, iv had boyleswebdesign for 2 years now and jakeboyles.com for about 7 months, and as for tactics... I have never done any SEO on any of them really, I just find a LOT of links, and being featured on Css gallerys and something else I did was put up a classified ad on ebay with a link to both my sites that helped a lot also.

October 10, 200817 yr Do you guys actually think PR has anything to do with SEO any more. IMHO it is just a thing to distract webmasters and keep them excited and chatting about all things Google - its the greatest marketing tool Google ever came up with. Yes in the early days it used to have some significance but how do you explain this then.. One of my sites has just had its pagerank cut from 5 to 3 but its seo results are now better, and one of the terms we optomise for which is DVD CASES and its associated page http://www.domain.com/dvd-cases.htm this page now comes up as No.1 on Google so how come PR has anything to do with it???
October 10, 200817 yr but how do you explain this then.. Relevance. From a very quick look at close competitors in the SERPS your nearest competitor with a higher PR (sonydadc) hasn't optimised for "DVD cases". So you appear to be (from my quick look) the most relevant site to the search "DVD cases" and, with no other site as relevant PR is not an issue. However, when you change the search to "cases DVD" you drop to 2nd place, losing top spot to another site with PR 3. This would suggest you are highly optimised for the specific phrase "DVD cases" and there is no PR4 or higher site so specifically optimised. Relevance is why Google (at PR10) doesn't appear in every search we ever do, but it does appear top if you search for "Google" and, interestingly enough talking of relevance, if you're searching for "Google" in google.co.uk the PR8 'google.co.uk' appears higher than the PR10 'google.com'. Search engines try to serve you the most relevant pages to what you asked (including focussing on the country where you asked from even if you didn't select that country only) and then they try to present you with the most authoritative sites that it thinks are most relevant. At least that's what Google say, I've experienced and have conducted experiments to check!
