Redesigned my homepage

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I just re-designed my homepage (on account of acquiring a slightly easier URL to reel down a phone) - any thoughts.

I haven't had a chance to test it cross browser beyond IE7 and FF2/3 so I apologise to any of you evil IE6ers out there. (Actually, stuff that, just upgrade ya fools...)

here's the link:

Really like the simple retro look of the site :)

It lets your work speak for itself. Speaking of which, your illustrations are fantastic!!

Slight problem with the 'web design' page layout. The dl.imginfo_landscape drops down below the p.comment_landscape when I assume they are meant to be side by side. (XP, FF3). Nothing difficult to fix though I'm sure.

Really nice work :)

I think it's great. Love the simplicity of it, it's very effective, and very professional. Same issue as Elan in the web design page though (opera 9.5 Linux).

Fantastic artwork there, sir! *bows*

I like it! The Icons on the right are good quality and draw attention. Also how about some navi buttons on the top, like to illustration, web etc? good job!

Great job, i am having the same problem as Elanman and notbanksy. I think a rollover effect on the click for more would be good maybe the red used on illustrations. Other than a really nice simple site :)

Marcus,

I've just spent around half an hour before work looking through your illustrations, modelling and websites. I'm now late for work!! I think that says everything I need to say about the site and your work...If I need any illustrations for a project, I'll know where to come.

Top job!

I agree with everyone else - it's a cool site, nice and simple but still gets the message across well.

Good work! :)

I love it. Nice and retro. Couple of tweaks I'd make (IMHO):

- Make the section images clickable and change the words "click for more" to "Read more". Just makes the site a bit more usable.

- The contact link seems orphaned form the rest of the content. Seeing as you've done a sterling job on the other images I think you'd be doing yourself a favour if you made a funky contact image rather than just have the text.

- On the portfolio page, I'm not sure if the url, client and task list is meant to float below the explanatory text or not? It feels a bit unbalanced having it below and to the right of the text.

- Hover effect could do with something other than just colour change to make it stand out., particularly for the colour blind.

Overall though it's really well done! :good:

Doh!!! Sorry, changed the margin declarations last night to add a border to the images in the illustration page - didn't check the other pages...will fix now. I'll take you up on some of that rollover advice.

Thanks for your kind words, very helpful.

Hi friend

Good colors used in background and text they both emphasise each other. Keep the simplicity up and move forward. I am a lover of simple things.

Asif :D

Really nice, simple site. I'd recommend having your external links open in a new window/tab, otherwise you are navigating away from your site and drives someone to use the back button. Not a major issue but means you don't get lost in a simple user browse.
