I don't really like the design but that's just my personal taste. What i will say though is your JPEGs are compressed to hell! Artefacts all over. Bump the quality up a bit man... or use PNGs which always have a nicer quality.

To be honest it's probably down to market saturation. There are just so many of these no win no fee places now that it's no surprise a new one like yours is having a hard time getting started... Most of the business will go to the oes with TV adverts.

I've got nothing against thin layouts as long as they are executed well.... this one just isn't. You see, all the successful thin layouts I've seen in the past have one thing in common. They all have visual design elements that justify the thin content area... What I mean by that is they will use graphics or page backgrounds that mean a narrow content area makes good design sense. Your site doesn't have that. It could easily be wider...even fluid and not only would it make more sense, it would look a lot nicer. You seem pretty intent on keeping this layout and of course that's up to you but please don't dismiss this out of hand it makes you seem aloof and could end up biting you in the arse.

Displays okay but is, in my opinion, ugly as sin. AND.... The flash banner that I had to sit for 20 valuable seconds waiting for it to load, has a grammar error that just made me angry. "You cant live without us" Learn to punctuate! CAN'T C - A - N - apostrophy - T

Coded very well. Congratulations on that. I find a common problem with sites that people make as soon as they've learned XHTML and CSS is that they are visially boring and this is no exception. A typical learning timeline goes like this. 1. Learn bad HTML --> 2. Make bad ugly sites --> 3. Make bad sites look nice --> 4. Learn good (X)HTML and Basic CSS --> 5. Make well coded ugly sites --> 6. Learn good CSS --> 7. Make well coded beautiful sites. With this site I put you at step 5. Which is by no means a bad thing. Where you should go from here: Learn about modern design trends, colour schemes, screen fonts and how to impliment them. Have a go at making some single page XHTML sites experimenting with what you can do with various CSS design techniques. Push the envelope, don't be afraid to try something that probably won't work if you think it could be a nice touch... even if it doesn't work you've still learned something.

Ok, I'll say something that hasn't been mentioned already seeing as people have pretty much pointed out where your technical faults are. It's your content. I had to scroll down more than half a page just to find out what it was you were selling. Even then I had to look twice because the design of the site and the product you sell go together like marmite and custard. My personal views on your products not withstanding (I think those Reborn babies are the creepiest thing known to man) I can't see who would want to buy from you... you might sell the odd logo or eBay shop template to a like-minded person but this is by no means a business. Your site and business idea is certainly unique... but I don't think that's a benefit in this case. The reason i don't think it's really been done before is because no one really wants it. Sorry, and best of luck with all your work in the future.

That's right. I don't believe in sugar coating things. It's counter-productive. It is a good first attempt but it is by no means a good website. All I've (we've) done is show him why that is the case and how to make things better.

OK, what MinuteDesigns has said may come off as harsh but sadly it's true. It doesn't validate and the design is extremely dated. What Sam has said is, in my eyes counter productive. He's congratualting you when, in reality, you have made a bit of a dogs dinner of it. I didn't look at the source for long but one glaring error I noticed was the fact that you've coded content outside of the <body> tag. Massive no-no. <body> doesn't just mean the content of the main page area... it means ALL visible content. The only thing that should appear after </body> is </html>. End of story. I do have to congratulate you on attempting to use XHTML and CSS but I fear you don't fully understand why you should be using it... you're just doing it because people say you should. Don't be put off by our comments however... you'll find that once you gain more of the fundamental concepts in web standards you'll be able to code some excellent stuff. Dan
