1. Custom Post Types & Taxonomies in WordPress without a Plugin: how do you actually use them in real projects? Hi dear Designer-Community,🤩 I’m currently revisiting WordPress Custom Post Types (CPTs) and taxonomies and would love to learn how others think about and apply them in practice. Well, out of the box, WordPress gives us pages, posts, categories, and tags — which is often enough for simple sites. But once projects grow and content starts to diversify, things can get messy quickly if everything is forced into the same structures. That’s where CPTs and custom taxonomies come in: they let us define what kind of content exists and how it should be organized, instead of bending everything into posts and pages. What I’m curious about is less the “how” (there’s plenty of docs and plugins for that) and more the design thinking behind it: When do you decide a certain new content type deserves its own CPT? What does drive this process!? How granular do you go with taxonomies and those things before it becomes overengineering? Do CPTs improve the wohle thing of clarity for editors — or sometimes even make things harder? How do CPTs influence navigation, SEO, and - besides that - the very much needed long-term maintainability? Have you ever regretted introducing a CPT (or not introducing one) in a certain project? well dear friends - I’m especially interested in real-world patterns, trade-offs, and even mistakes — how different teams and individuals structure content, and how those structures evolve over time. I am really looking forward to learning from your approaches and seeing how these ideas connect and diverge across projects._ Look forward to hear from you greetings 🤩

3. hello dear Community, good day dear Friends on the Webdesignforums - the awesome forum, well this is a question that has got not too much to do with webdesign - at least not directly. So we can say its slightly off-topic. But dear friends i really hope that we can discuss this. I am curious to get to know your ideas here. Since - i think allmost everything on the whole internet - has to do with webdesign - do you agree here!? that said: today i wonder: How is AI Search changing the way you “Google”?🔍 ie. did google + AI ever change your user experience. And i am believing that this has got an impact for my web-design-work. Background: well in my newspaper i read a big big heading today in the morning: Google has now rolled out its AI-powered search mode in Europe (several countries here) and many other countries. Hmmm - the shift seems clear: from searching for links to receiving direct answers. Some of those i know, they say it saves time — others worry it hides the diversity of sources and voices on the web. I’d love to hear from you - what do you think abou this. dear friends, i am curious to hear your experiences and reflections! 👇
4. Dear Community, GIMP version 3.0.6 is on the way. It is evident from the Milestone / GitLab that 3.0.6 already exists as a milestone and has been completed. 9to5linux.com made it public some Hours ago https://9to5linux.com/gimp-3-0-6-is-now-available-for-download-with-improved-photoshop-brush-support Availability & Distribution: GIMP 3.0.4 is currently still listed as the stable version on the official GIMP download page. The release notes page also only goes up to 3.0.4 so far. The fact that the GitLab milestone 3.0.6 (see link above) already exists and is completed strongly suggests that the release has already been finalized internally. It is likely that in the next few days or weeks mirror servers, distributions (e.g., Flatpak, Snap, Linux repositories), and GIMP.org itself will be updated to make 3.0.6 widely available. ...a Videoclip: GIMP 3.0 ist ein dringend benötigtes Upgrade! https://youtu.be/RPbus0Ei7wg Stats 250 000 :: 11700 Likes ::: 1407 comments more Informationen - backgrounds : the Wiki-Seite: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIMP the Projektsite: https://www.gimp.org Release-Notes: https://www.gimp.org/news/
5. Hi Fisicx, 🙂 many thanks for your reply - and for the tip! Thats great! 👍 BTW - many thanks for the continued help - and your awesome support its great to be here in this forum. have a great day..🙂
6. good day dear fisics many tahnks for the reply - in fact - i share this idea right said - i love WP - no doubt - and i think youre right - the display modes we have here - are just very good. immich is used by some guys here in my hometown - they said that it is terrific and caused them to switch from google-photos. but as mentioned -above. I really like the WordPress-solution.. greetings
7. good evening dear friends, hello everyone. hope youre doing well - and everything is all right at your site. well i am currently planning a little winter-project - and i am musing how to cope with the challenges to begin with the beginning: for my new winter-project i ’m experimenting with a Raspberry Pi in an outdoor setup and want to establish a WiFi connection from about 65 meters away. I’ve tried with the onboard WiFi, but the signal just doesn’t make it. The router is mostly unobstructed from the Pi, so it seems like a range/antenna limitation rather than obstacles. I’ve been looking into possible solutions and would love your input: Are there USB WiFi adapters with external antennas that can reliably handle this distance? Any particular chipsets (e.g. RTL8812AU, MT7612U, etc.) that you’ve had success with on the Pi? Would a directional antenna (Yagi or panel type) be more effective than a high-gain omni in this scenario? Has anyone here modded a Pi to attach an external antenna directly? Do other SBCs (ASUS Tinker, Odroid, etc.) offer better hardware flexibility for antenna connections than the Pi? btw: Do you think i need to ditch the Pi and should go with the Asus Tinker or the Odroid!?
8. For whom are these pictures? no part of a business plan. right said - exactly well its a difference - on the one handside i am currently planing some hosting-projects - and on the other handside i am talking bout my hobby as a photograher... - and there is a difference - i hardly can t believe that this difference cannot be understood. Its barely simple - a. doing webdesign - and working in the field of creating a webiste and besides this b. hosting some pics to look at in b you have the options to b1. use google photo or b2 use immich or other self hosted options.. so its that simple - a is not b and b1 is not b2 - .... greetings 🙂
9. good day daer Fisicx first of all many many thanks for the reply. thanks - - well if someone comes form a. flickr b. google photos and is thinking at a self (!!) hosted (!!) solution - it makes a difference - ,,, at least to me... hmmm - at least to me i see a real difference - if i compare the different options.. so to make it clear - why - here a comparison… between the Options i am taking into qaccount a quick n dirty comparison – as a first approximation: 🔹 Immich – Open source, self-hostable, RAW support, face/object recognition, full data sovereignty. Ideal for communities that take archiving and privacy seriously. Still under development, but very active. 🔹 Google Photos – Super convenient, powerful AI search (“Ask Photos”), clever editing tools (Magic Eraser, HDR). Perfect for everyday use and sharing, but RAW is limited and cloud-bound. 🔹 Prisma – Creative, spectacular filters & style transformations. Fun, but not an archiving/workflow tool. 👉 Conclusion: For many photographers, Immich is now, in my opinion, one of the most exciting open source alternatives. Google remains unbeatable in terms of convenience, while Prisma provides inspiration for creativity. Question: Which tools do you currently use for backup, organization, and creative editing? Which features are most important to you? and yes: i think Google Photos – this is super convenient - but with immich i have a self holstable solution and dear fisicx - /(i have to ponder on the fact that this Immich solution is not stable - so of (!!) course (!!) its totally different to - lets say Google Photos. 🫠🙂at least to my humble view... have a great day greetings.🙂
10. hello and good evening 🙂 i want to dive into the use of either figma or Penpot. well some friends of me - have told me that they use figma - and that they are very very satisfied with it. Note: they even run this on Mobile-phone. The main advantage i see here - is that the design work can be colaboratively extended - in other words: if i work on a template - i can ask others what they think about it - and besides this - i can furthermore invite them into the process. questoin: did you ever thought of going into this direction - did you ever muse bout starting with such a tool - either figma or penpot, which is the free and open-source alternative to figma. well - i found out some of the main-aspects - AND I would be glad if i here a little fruitful discussion and idea sharing would take place. For graphic designers, Figma and Penpot are especially relevant when it comes to collaborative design, prototyping, and client/team communication. Figma stands out thanks to its massive community, extensive design resources (templates, UI kits, plugins), and strong adoption across the design industry. For designers working in mixed teams (e.g. with developers or product managers), Figma is considered the industry standard. Penpot, on the other hand, appeals to designers who value openness, flexibility, and data control. It is a sustainable choice for groups that want to manage their design assets independently of commercial vendors. Its self-hosting option can also be attractive for agencies or educational institutions. Well - i am a friend of Open Source - so i think i just would start with Penpot. - but at the end problably would land in figma -since this is told to be the industry-standard with much much more options and flexibility. what d o you think - i look forward to hear from you greetings😀 yours saint o
11. good evening dear fisicx 🙂 many thanks for the reply - glad to hear from you. well i am about to ditch google-photos. hmm i run a server that is managed by my friend - so perhaps i t would be possible to add immich - the self hosted photo-management-stuff to the server. hmm this is developed very very quick - and is known to be under active and sustainable development. perhaps i ll give it a try. will digg deeper and going to read some reviews later the week. I sureiy come back and will let you know what i have found out. greetings 🙂
12. Dear friends on t he Webdesignerforum, first of all - i hope your all right and everyting goes well on your site. Question: how do you host your images - i am currently musing about the setup of a new version - the self hosted option - that runs immich. i am currently not very sure bout the pros and cons - so perhaps we can discuss it here. We can discuss the options - to switch from Google-photos to a self hosted system - and i would be glad to see a fruitful discussion Look forward to hear from you.. greetings Saint_O
13. good day dear Jogeta316 and fisicx - many many thanks for the replies. of course : i need to formate the postins more accurate - and i will do this! have a great day. greetings 🫠

17. good day dear friends, today i have some kind of practical question - not cloesly related to the topic webdesign itself. the topic: i want ot create some kind of literature-list in GitHub wiki? note: the post is a little vague, but that should suit most cases: well - for a Little project i want to add a literature-list (comprehensive and big ) on github - how would you do this!? musings about an approach: i guess that i could make a repo with a markdown file containing my list? see some examples - i need to add such a list (larger than this) on a github-wiki (or lets say a github page - probably a jekyll or so): see the example here: see more details: well - how to do this - how to achive ithis in Github-Markdown: hmm i found some kind of manpages and such - i found it nicely demonstrated in the Table of Contents of the Markdown Cheatsheet: https://github.com/adam-p/markdown-here/wiki/Markdown-Cheatsheet should i go this way!? note - alos found this: How do I create some kind of table of content in GitHub wiki? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18244417/how-do-i-create-some-kind-of-table-of-content-in-github-wiki ##### Table of Contents [Headers](#headers) [Emphasis](#emphasis) ...snip... <a name="headers"/> ## Headers If you hover over a Header in a GitHub Markdown file, you'll see a little link sample to the left of it, you can also use that link. 19. Good day dear experts hello everyone here. 😍 well - during the designingtasks i some times have some other things to do - answering mails and receiving keys etc. etx. - well today i have a special topi: the question is: how to decrypt a pgp based messag !? first of all i have to confess: i used pgp years ago .- long time not any more. but yes - still do HAVE KEYS AND all that sort of things on my linux box - two days ago my friend send me a messsage that is necrypted: now i need to read the message. do you suggest to use a so called pgp-tray to read the message -(/wheras i can import the keys etc.) Hmm - well i really hope that i have been able to spell out what i need - and what is the case here here some some thougths that you might understand my situation a bit better: i received an encrypted PGP message, and i still have some old keys on the Linux machine, but it’s been a while since i last used PGP. In other words i just basically want the simplest, safest way to decrypt and read the message. what can be a good approach: i think that there are some methods, options ways here /(at least they come up to my thoughts): a. decrypt the message note my friend sent me a file, say message.asc, i can decrypt it with: gpg --decrypt message.asc and yes - here it comes - here it comes the difficult thing: Well i guess that GPG will ask me for the passphrase of the private key. if all goes well i remember this - but duhhh - i guess i have forgotten the phrase: Well - if i can remember it - then after entering it, the plaintext message will appear. but again duuuhh - what if i do not know the passphrase right now - it i cant remember it - [shhhhhit ] and regarding the toolset: b. Optional – PGP Tray or GUI tools in earlier times i d prefered something with a graphical interface rather than the command line: b.1 Seahorse (GNOME key manager, integrates with GPG) b2. PGP Tray (less common nowadays, but can still work) well - these tools let us manage keys and decrypt messages through a tray icon or context menus. But hmmm - for a one-time read, gpg --decrypt is the most straightforward. but - this does not help me - i need to remember the damned passphrase. what do i do if i cannot do htis - if i ve forgotten the phrase - then i guess - ill have to tell this my friend and i have to geneate new set of keys - whats your opinion!!? yours Saint_O🫠 greeting
20. good morning dear fisicx many thanks for the quick reply - great to hear from you🫠 thank you so much! I will try out this option - with the image as a background. BTW: glad to be here at the forum - its so good. Thank you -. have a great day. greetings Saint O
21. good day dear friends, 🙂 well after some musing and tweaking around i ve seen some progress: see for more infos - the Twenty Twenty-Four-theme-manpages: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/twenty-twenty-four/ This manual - is awesome: it has helped me alot - and besides that i have had some hours of YT-Videos covering the theme!! well conclusio: i think that the image isn't displayed across the full width in the Twenty Twenty-Four theme due to following reason and therefore , i guess we have alltogether several - or hmm three options and pathways 1. WordPress Block Settings: i unfortunatly currently have your image embedded in a Stack/Group block. By default, this certain block doesn't have a "full width" setting, but only "wide width" or "content width." Therefore, the image is aligned to the content container, not the so called viewport. after having looked into the manpages of the theme i found out a possible solution: In the editor, i need to select the Image block or (even better) the parent Group/Stack block. The alignment options are then available at the top of the toolbar: "Standard" "Wide" "Full Width" here - according the manpages i have to select Full Width-mode. Then the image will then stretch across the entire browser width - what is wanted here. 2. Theme Feature: Twenty Twenty-Four The theme uses the so called new block-based template system (Site Editor). In some templates (e.g., "Page" or "Home"), there are containers that limit the maximum width. If “full width” is not visible → check: The group block above it must also be set to "Full Width." If necessary, adjust the template structure in the Site Editor (Design > Editor > Templates) so that the container isn't limiting. 3. CSS Fallback (if necessary - a more hackish and tweak like solution - but anyway: ) If this doesn't work at all, i could add custom CSS in the Customizer or Site Editor: .wp-block-image img { width: 100% !important; max-width: 100% !important; } well this tweak hmm i think it would force the images to truly fill the full width. additional tip: In the editor, i could go to the image block → "Full Width" in the bar at the top. If that would not be possible, i could set the parent group/stack to "Full Width." If the theme container still restricts the width → i finally could adjust the template in the site editor. hmm - well i try out these steps. And - well i hope that these steps could be helpful to others too greetings yours Saint O again: the conclusio of the day: see for more infos - the Twenty Twenty-Four-theme-manpages: https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/twenty-twenty-four/ This manual - is awesome: it has helped me alot - and besides that i have had some hours of YT-Videos covering the theme!! yours saint O
22. hello dear community, good day. 😉 hello dear Fisicx - and all the experts. 🤩 you have allready helped me alot here in the forum - with some of my basic (and beginner) questions for designing a webpage. So at the moment i am struggling with some extra-issues. And as i suppose that here many experts that are experienced with web-design - and that there also some wp-experts may be around here, i thought that this might be a good thing to ask here: well i run into a issue: With the theming: - note - i run the theme TT4 Twenty Tweny Four the question is: how to set the grapic to max '(full) widht : how to !? (with the backend-view on all tools) well the above image shows the backend - and now - see the frontend. dear friends: well i hope i was able to spell out - what the problem is!? if you need more data / input - plz lemme know regards yours Saint O
23. Hello dear Fisicx many thanks for your reply and for the hint! great : i will take you ideas, thoughts and tipps into account here. thank you very much for the continued support. Have a great weekend greetings Saint 0
24. good day dear fisicx many thanks for your reply. I definitly will try that out! That sounds convincing - i think that SVG is a good format - but sometimes i am sure - we can transfer it to PNG BTW: i also like GIMP alot - its a bit easier than Inkscape. greetings yours Saint_O
