  1. If you were making sites just for friends & family and wanted to charge a little something I suppose you could use a Template then customize it. You'd still have a pro look but you would be able to do it straight away. In the long run you should learn to code. Theres loads of resources online, written & audio visual.
  2. Thats your best bet. Also if you do video tutorials, Youtube is a safe bet with links back to your site.
  3. Nice site. Well put together, good colour scheme. Only thing is you cant see the video tool bar when you highlight it. You need to brighten it.
  4. Great Example. 5*
  5. Not an amazing site from a coder perspective. But from a user perspective I love it. Fantastic job.
  6. I think people need to ease off a little here. They put they are pro's, so what at 15 kids have an imagination they like to think they can start companies etc. Why not let them have some fun? I agree they shouldn't have their numbers on there but realistically they are only ever going to deal with people they know. Nobody deals with companies that aren't 1.Vat Registered 2.Show some form of portfolio 3.Aren't advertised anywhere People saying the same thing over & over learn to code properly etc etc. If you could code perfectly at 15 then you really are something special. They do have to start somewhere & by slating there every thing. It's really not that constructive. *(Note. This doesn't apply to those of you who criticised and praised in equal measure.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With regards to your site. I think its a great first try. The style is clean and well presented not so sure on your choice of meta-keywords but thats your choice. Have you ever thought about maybe using a template than maybe taking bits etc learning code from that? Also webdesigner mag is quite good you can get free templates and tutorials and keep yourselfs up to date. All I can say is well done & keep trying. If you want to experiment with Flash go ahead its a great skill to have. If you become good enough with Flash there are sites like Flashden where you can sell your work. Good Luck regards James Monks
  7. Hi there. I had a basic appraisal done on your site by a friend. He values the site at £11000 based on hits etc. It might be way below what you currently earn etc. However to further analyise your site I would need to forward him detailed traffic reports. Your host should provide them if you send me those I can get you a valuation of not only your domain but advertising. Here are a few sites that may help. http://internetmarketingsweetie.com/faq/content/view/219/1/ http://www.ehow.com/how_2003247_sell-advertising-ezine.html Heres some sites to advertise on: www.adpreference.com/ www.adjug.com/ www.buysellads.com/ www.grokads.com/ If you need me to get you a better appraisal just say. regards James Monks
  8. Those are pretty good stats so I should think you could charge a fair amount. The main thing is finding a suitable person. In terms of $$$ I really couldn't put a number to it. However I can tell you that I have a friend whos site had numerous hits roughly 500000 he charged 2K P.A on his site for a large banner but his wasn't a commercial site so you may well get more or less depending on the client. I will email a contact for you to see a good place to advertise there was a specific site but I can't remember it. regards James Monks
  9. Those are pretty impressive stats. Have you tried using adsense? If you can see what you earn in one month through Adsense you can place a rough estimate on how much advertising space is worth. Another thing to remember is that you need to find people who are willing to advertise and what they are willing to pay. Best thing to do is try Adsense.
  10. So why don't you use OsCommerce? It would accommodate your needs if not CRE loaded is a more powerful version. If you just want these options without installing OsCommerce. Try this link... Hotscripts This site offers numerous scripts just do a search till you find what suits you. If not theres a site called Flashden which offers what your asking for but in Flash. Hope this helps a little. regards James
  11. I agree. I think almost every decent .com domain has been registered and settling for .co.uk or .net just isn't the same in most cases.
  12. Maybe you should purchase a decent template and use it for inspiration. I started off by backwards engineering templates to learn the coding etc. Also if you can afford theres a webdesigner mag out there it usually gives you free goodies in the way of tutorials and templates on a disk, when you start to see whats possible I'm sure you'll be pretty inspired.
  13. Good start. Try downloading a web template then backwards engineering it. Pick bits of code out etc.
  14. If you find a key domain it doesn't matter at all if it has a dash. e.g cheap-flights.com is worth a fortune even if it has a dash. If you can avoid do so but if not it doesn't matter.
