I think that post might refer to the link to the current site you posted.

I agree with the green color. After letting it rest for a while and now looking back at it again this is certainly true. I also agree that the images are not ideal, but these were all I had so I had to use them.

The only thing I don't really understand is the part about the layer effects. I didn't use any dropshadows and strokes so I don't know what you mean by this.

But anyway thank you for the time to review

I'll have to be honest: The green tint is just too distracting. You could with changing the hue or intensity of your green.

I am a bit curious tho: Why did you placed a border for the content instead of placing the usual elements straight out without the dividers? The way you could present each section could be greatly impoved with bigger images and typography instead of pasting them to "fit'. I'd say the same for the banner as that is you CTA and would need to stand out more compared to the rest.

Lastly, I'd recommend not using too much layer effect (like obvious dropshadows and strokes). I believe the styles would work better if they were used in a quite subtle manner.

I have to agree on the green colour, especially used against the grey or white. Presumably the green is a corporate colour so can't be tweaked.
So I'd consider white against the green and then use the grey against a white background.

Certainly a major improvement on the original though and meets the spec for that style of site well.

I like it, but the sections that have dark text on that green background hurt my eyes. It's pretty jarring.

I like to listen to techno/house music while working. Sometimes even those big room house tracks to keep me going

    Thanks Phaser1,

It's great to get plenty of types of feedback. I'll look into making some of the changes you, Jane B and dap have pointed out.

I like the look of your site. It does come across as a transparent website. But to be honest, I was a bit confused what the website was about. At first sight it could be about anything tech-related. Maybe you could solve it with a simple and clear slogan in the black bar just below your logo. (For example I like reddit's slogan 'the front page of the internet'. You immediately know what you can expect).

dap has a point about the website not being responsive, which means the website doesn't resize to become easily readable on smaller mobile screens. It's not a big problem, but you could think about it since the website is targeted at smartphone users.

Apart from that, I think your website really works for the target audience. It displays clear information without a lot of distraction and that's what most important in my opinion.

I have some design experience in general but I have just completed my second year of uni ( web design and graphic degree) the only stuff I have online at the moment is my incomplete website http://mentiondesign.com and my stuff on devientart (mostly photomanipulation) http://saltedm8.deviantart.com

    Hey Phaser1,

I give it a thumbs up for layout and the way it works. Personally I'd rethink that light blue colour. Although it looks better with a yellow button showing.
I know we are all different, so it's all relative, but I just copied the page screenshot in Fireworks and replace that blue with white or any other colour sampled from the page, and other colours really look better in my opinion. I tried a few and yellow FFF645 sampled from the W in the mess with us button, looks good in my opinion.

Having said that, me and my girlfriend both have different monitors and sites often look very different from a colour perspective. What one person sees is often different, regardless of taste.

Good job, they look like a cool and fun band. I just don't like that light blue. Maybe it's just my monitor.

I'm no pro of course, so hopefully others will chime in.

Actually, it grows on you after a while. My yellow might have been a hasty idea (I do get excited, but I'm design challenged), because it also depends on your browser and other windows frame colours, which might not match the site. However, that light blue doesn't seem to match anything in the above picture/banner, which is why it might not seem to blend, at least for me.
I wonder what others will say, Maybe they love that blue..
