Picking Hostgator is worse because they offer "Unlimited" which NO HOST can offer. That's one read flag to avoid a host. Btw with the £10 when you first paid then £16 to renew im guessing the £10 was a sign up offer only. Should of read their terms.

Theres no real way to stop it but prevention is the key. Looks like they gained access to your account and im guessing only your account as the host would of said "The server was breached etc..". You can just be sure to have good strong passwords. Also do regular back ups. And hope you notice the problem before the back up file is backed up and rewritten. But saying that your host should have backed up files if they offer daily back ups and should be able to download and upload a back up from before the hack. If you are using a shared hosting account it would be down to the host to make sure the sever is safe from crackers and hackers. If you have your own VPS think about getting it hardened by a server company.

Ive never heard of .my i even looked on 123-reg.co.uk/godaddy.com and didn't find anything. Then i googled it and .my is a malaysia domain extension which could be why its not listed on any UK/US sites. Its also expensive from what i saw on a site. Do you plan to launch a site in malaysia? Could be worth looking for a web host in malaysia and see if they offer domains.

Any new forum could just start on a shared hosting deal. And under 5GB disk space, but upgrading would be needed if you start allowing users to upload files and pictures.

I know some companies will pass on emails to the clients for certain reasons. The only email linked to that domain is 627f211062db4f9da49c1bea0513674a.protect@whoisguard.com you could try emailing that and explain your issue and they may pass it on. Worth a shot.

Its one of the most problems with not being able to access Cpanel because of blocked IPs. Glad you got it sorted.

Contact your host to see if your IP has been blocked. To many failed attempts would result in a ban on the IP in question.

No idea who they are. There site says "This Site Is Under Construction and Coming Soon". I guess no one is around to sort it out.

A good name something people can remember and don't need a pen and paper to right it down nor to long. Also check that other top level domains extensions aint taken. Example: you want www.mydomain.com but www.mydomain.co.uk is taken don't bother as people could get confused. Don't buy auction domains as they can cost more and aint valid for long. I get my domains from 123-reg.co.uk and always have done. But people may suggest other sites. GoDaddy.com is also good for domains ive used. .com domains you can buy a min of 1 year upwards and .co.uk min of 2 years. Just my input.

Depends who owns the site. Although some web hosts will transfer your account if you move to them.

I think that is a little extreme. You can get a dedi server for under £100 a month. Could you provide a link to this site so can take a further look?

Ive seen this host before. Someone asked same thing on another forum and they said they offered 1 year free hosting. No catch right? Wrong they had a setup fee of £15.00 i think it was. No host these days charge a setup fee for a shared hosting account. VPS or dedi maybe.

How much are you looking to spend? How much disk space would you need? Would you want to give each domain its own control panel? If so grab a reseller hosting. From experience/reviews/etc.. stay away from hostgator and any other host with an animal in it lol. Its also good to keep both domains and hosting at different places. Cause if the host ups and leaves with your money it could take a long time to get domains back. Its free to transfer a .co.uk to a host but you can pay full price moving other top level domains.

Most hosts don't add a charge for bandwidth. Its normally included in the package price. Ideally you offer like 1GB disk space & 10GB bandwidth for about £2.00. Hosts charge per GB disk space not bandwidth. Some charge if clients go over their allotted bandwidth and charge like £1 per extra 5GB added on. And so on.
