  1. I think this looks spot on Al, colour palette is nice and clean, texture on the background is stylish and subtle. I am getting into app design and interface design myself and some of the elements you use are unreal, keep up the good work!
  2. Thanks dap! appreciate everyone taking their time and having a look! This might be me being silly and i apologise to the community but is 8-bit png better? if so can i ask why? I genuinely don't know! Does it have to do with load times or the colours within the logo??
  3. thanks, yeah I think centring would be better aswel! I always spell that word wrong, thanks for pointing it out bud!
  4. Hey guys, I have just finished coding a homepage for a friends business he loves the design and the site but this is my first attempt at a design concept and coding aswel as it being my first time doing a responsive design. Please let me know what you guys think, it is on a testing server just now because I haven't coded the internal pages yet! Thanks in advance http://securicheck123.byethost7.com/
  5. thanks for all the replies awesome help! I would never look to spam a forum because it is utterly pointless and will do no good! I just wanted a starting point for the right way to do it and you guys have helped loads. sorry if I mislead anyone into thinking I was gonna spam forums haha crazy guys!
  6. I have been searching for a basic guide on how to forum comment and the best forums to leave comments with for SEO purposes! I have read numerous things from different sources and I have come to the conclusion that I am confused haha! Can someone who has experience with this please help and point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance!
  7. Awesome thank you Jason! I will not listen to my mate, all I need to do is learn about internal link structure now haha! I have been internally linking but I dont think it is the right way! I will start a new thread about internal linking, don't want to get wrong for starting 2 topics in 1 thread! haha I noticed that one person who I work closely with has started being found for a term he wanted all because he blogged about it and that was when it was pointed out to me that I should not follow the same route as this person, that it why I had to get some expert opinions haha! Cheers again Jason!
  8. Thanks for your reply Jason, awesome advice again dude! The argument that the person who I spoke to was making was, if you are searching for a certain term and land on a blog post then you are more inclined to leave that page because its not a relevant landing page. I have no idea if this is true or not but in my head I was thinking that it was a bit suspect but he is, to me, a good friend and very good at his job! I kind of understand what he is saying but I thought that even if it is a blog post, your site is still getting the exposer that it needs because you have written something and google has liked it, therefore giving it some authority!
  9. I was wondering what peoples opinions were on ranking blog posts! By ranking blog posts I mean them ranking higher then your homepage or ranking higher than a page that is already out there trying to rank for the same keyterm. For example - if I was targeting 'fish bowls in leeds' and I already have a page that is trying to rank for that but decide to write a blog post on the increase in sales of 'fish bowls in leeds' over the last year, would the blog posts rank higher than the page I already have? I haven't done this but it was mentioned to me in conversation earlier today, it was suggested that I use the htaccess file to stop google from indexing blog posts for another site because they are ranking for certain terms higher than the homepage and internal page. Just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this because I was led to believe that because a blog post carrys some - not much - social influence, google would like that post rather than a dedicated page for the term..... Please correct me if I am wrong, this SEO is a hard process to follow when it is changing all the time haha! I just want to do things properly and have safe sites, my head feels like its going to explode! haha
  10. fribbble.com is a new site that has recently been launched! all free resources posted by users of dribbble! also freedesign4.me is good for vectors! Love free stuff!
  11. thanks for the replies people! Jason, you touched upon guest posting? does this require contacting the administrator of the site itself and asking? Sorry for the questions, I seen on SEOMoz an infographic which looks spot on but I just cant really get my head around the concept!
  12. I have read, what feels like, a million different articles and forum posts on directory submissions and I am still confused. Some people are saying that they are very useful and others are saying that they are being discounted by Google, I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on this subject? Also I have read alot of link building strategies and what works best......everyone is leading to engaging content that people will naturally want to share, I think they referred to it as 'link bait'? This term sounds a little bit black hat style if I'm honest but I have no experience with it so wouldn't know! Has anyone got any little techniques they use for link building? Obviously I am not expecting you to reveal your link building strategies because you may have a concrete model you make money from but just some tips on where to start?? Thanks Guys
  13. Hi, I have produced this visual for a friend of mine who is starting up his own security business, basically installing, repairing, servicing, that type of thing. Just wanted to post a visual of it on here and see if you guys had any feedback for me! I haven't done many web visuals so I am eager to here what you have to say, maybe how I can improve the usability and user experience? Thanks Guys
  14. WOW the response from this thread is amazing thanks everyone, I feel that I am gaining a better understanding of the on-page optimisation sequence, thanks opensesame aswell, a full breakdown of everything is what I needed really, it's hard being a trainee and no-one else really understanding SEO in the company (sounds weird I know!) You touched on keyword density and keyword positioning, is there a model to follow or is it just how the content reads and making sure that it isn't overloaded with the same keywords? I would say a mixture of keywords and phrases and maybe throw some brand in there! is this a correct method? Also when you say work backwards in terms of ranking do you mean ranking for specific terms first and then the generic terms become easier? Sorry for asking more questions, I just want to make sure what I am doing is correct for the clients and will improve their ranking over time! Thanks again to everyone who is involved in this thread, means a lot. Hands down the best design forum out there at the minute this one!
  15. Thanks for the replies, all of it is quality advice and I am putting in a lot of effort in writing good, quality content. What are peoples views on page titles? URL's? H1 tags etc? I have heard that each page should rank for a different keyword otherwise the pages with the same keywords on them will compete in the SERP's, I try to keep the page title, URL and the h1 tag all the same keyterm so that it flows? I am new to this so not sure if its the right or most effective way! Also h2 tags? are they of any use? I have been including them in sites as a variation of the primary keyword I am targeting, for example if my primary keyword was 'dog training' I would put that in the page title, URL and then in h1 tag, then i would have an area pinpointed as the secondary keyterm 'dog training newcastle' this would be piped in the page title and also I would try and sit it in an h2 tag! Is this right or am I just wasting my time by working like this? I am reading new things all the time and my head feels like its going to explode haha!
  16. Hey guys, My first post on this forum, it is an absolute god send honestly! so many things have been clarified on here for me! I just wondered if everyone had an on page optimisation strategy that they all stick to? I think I have an idea of one and I am implementing it at the minute with a few sites but wanted to know anyones experiences with this task? Thanks in advance guys Liam
