Review my client's site
I actually was considering it. But I'd rather have the navigation show up, and the images fade in a few seconds after, than have someone watch a loading thing. But I'll see, it's still in SQA, so depending on other things, we might change it. I was really looking for feedback in terms of design, concept, etc.

Review my client's site
I'm finalizing this website, and would just like an honest opinion, and any ideas and feedback. eliteflier I'm not looking for a backlink, as the client's site isn't nikiz.com, it's my temp domain with no real value. This site will be replacing their original one which is eliteflier dot com.

Feedback wanted on relaunched car hire site
Here's my two cents: 1) From a branding and marketing perspective, the chocolate brown you are using is bland, not remarkable, and easily forgetful. You need stronger, more bold colors. My advice, black, red, orange. I can see it looking really great with black and orange, or black and red. 2) Def remove the background. Like some of the others mentioned, the choc brown in middle is killing the look, and should be removed asap. 3) You have text displaying in the location box. This "guided search" should disappear once clicked. It does once I enter any character, but it should disappear as soon as the user intends to enter a location. (You should also decide if you want to do this or not, if you do, do it throughout the site, so there is a consistency.) 4) Social is an important part of marketing. Be proud of it! Put your facebook and twitter logos on top of the page perhaps on top of the button "why nova"! - Also add google +1 button, it will help with ranking, this has been rumored, and proven by SEO experts. 5) FAQ- http://www.novacarhire.com/about/faq.htm collapse button doesn't work. Just so you know. Once it's expanded, it won't collapse. Tested google chrome. 6) Read more - banner for ipad is dead link. Other than that it looks great. I'd def reconsider the color choices though. Brown + Purple not the greatest. Sorry- I'm being honest!

What does a website cost...?
Ditto! FYI, I didn't add to sig because they did have a post limit. I'm not very into forums, used to be more into it when I was in the mobile hacking / flashing scheme. today, just a little too busy.

What does a website cost...?
First off, sorry about the spam thing. I'm a little new here, and never realized it would be a huge deal to post some links to my site so that a'll can see the kind of work I do. Truth is, that's a great argument. Why should we be any different, and I agree. The only difference I see is when my car breaks down, and I know **** about fixing cars, I am twisted to go to a mechanic. we are not buying something, or having something made for us, instead we are having something repaired. The mechanic begins to look, gives you a rough estimate, and somehow always manages to come back with some major extras, at least in NYC. Here we are professional designers and developers. A client expects us to go through all the options, ideas, plans, etc. We explain the technical sides to the best of our ability, and then we move towards sealing the deal. Granted, clients can change their minds, but the gist is that they expect us to complete their plan. However, many of my friends do insert into the contract a hourly rate for any extras, which does not fall into the scope. In this case, it becomes more like an estimate than a contractual quote. But I guess you are right, and this doesn't really answer your question.

Marc @ Animex Studio (New User) New York City
Guys, First off, it's awesome being part of a community. Today is my first day, and I hope to be able to frequent often, and answer as many questions as I can. Due to time differences, (I'm in NYC -5 EST) I'm guessing some of my posts will be after hours in the UK. Who am I? I'm lead manager at Animex Studiowhich is a fairly large development & design firm in NYC. We do work for many different companies, mostly clients with signed NDA's which usually don't allow us to post their sites. The typical clients are lawyers, doctors, etc. But most importantly, my strength is in marketing, branding, and UX Design. I'm also a copywriter, a blogger, and pretty popular on facebook, twitter, pintrest, google+, and linkedin. I'm here to offer my services, and if you have projects you'd like to hire me for, feel free to PM me, or contact me. My advice is free!

What does a website cost...?
I'm the lead manager of a company in New York, and i've been having the same issue. We have basic prices, but we are always finding this reason or that to change the quote. What I always tell prospective clients is that building a website is like building a house. You may have an idea of what you want, a budget allocated, but in the end it's always a little more for the unexpected. You start with a wireframe, which is similar to the blueprint (that's what we call building plans in the states), and you go from there. Then you need to decide what technology you want to build, php, .net, etc., and that's kinda like the foundation. You design the home page, and that's similar to those pictures of finished buildings you always see. Then the real work begins. Changes keep coming, and your price depends on whether you want marble flooring (flash design), wordpress- efficient simple flooring, or parquet made up of little pieces (e-commerce). In the end, the price is reflected by the quality, and features you want and agree on. My basic pricing is $4,000 for e-commerce (magento standard), $350 for logos (5 samples+2 revisions) and informational sites begin at roughly $1200. All USD.

SSL - Do I need it?
James, To be perfectly honest, I'd integrate the SSL, or at the very least offer it to the client for a fee. Privacy and security has become quite the topic across the web, with some of the larger companies being attacked, and hacked. Zappos a few months ago was hacked, and all the customer data was compromised. While you won't be storing cc's, the email, client lists, etc., is valuable too, and the client deserves the right to make that call. If you want to remain perceived as a professional, it's always better to offer the extras, and let the client make the decision, preferably in writing. SSL isn't too expensive, and the integration isn't too much work, and probably worth the work. [spam snip] But best luck, Marc www.wespam.com
