  1. Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look at those right now!
  2. Hi I wonder if anyone can tell me please the best place to get certain web graphics? Whilst I can built websites my skills with graphic programs are very limited. When I try to design them myself they look awful. I have no problem designing basic buttons and shapes etc but I would like to add other things such as those little graphics depicting contact details - such as emailing and telephoning etc. Ideally they would be in a changeable format for me to change the colours etc. I am not a big fan of too many pointless images and not looking for 'amateurish' clipart but I'm trying to just make the site a little more interesting and professional looking without needing to hire a professional graphic designer. Does that make sense? Any advise greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. Den
  3. Hi There Sorry, not sure exactly where to post this question so hopefully some of the more technical here will know the answer whilst chatting over their coffee I am wondering if there is a way of finding out when a page on someone else's website was re-published? I have a bit of a dispute with someone and it looks as though they have added information since I began talks with them but I need to know for sure. Thanks for any advice. Den
  4. Hi there Yes I suppose it is a duplicate content issue I was thinking about, I just remember reading somewhere about not putting similar sites on the same server but wasn't sure to what degree it mattered. Although all 3 sites are different 2 of them would be pretty similar in some ways. Thanks for your reply and I'll also take a look at the hosting you mention. Denise
  5. Hi I wonder if anyone can advise please. I am about to host 3 websites to do with my 1 business. but unsure whether to purchase a reseller account (they will then all be hosted on the same server) but I'm not sure if there is a problem hosting all 3 of these sites on the same server because of the search engines. e.g.- 1) First site might sell a certain franchises actual products lets say www.smithsproducts.com 2) Second site will talk about the franchise opportunity e.g. www.smithsbusinessopportunity.com 3) Third site will be about franchises in general. This means that the middle site (2) will have some similarities with sites 1 and 3, and the middle site will also have some similar content as the third generic site (third will also have added content). Does all this make sense? Thanks for anyones help. Denise
  6. Hi I cannot see a thread regarding this so hope I'm not repeating anything. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a good source for sending automated emails and newsletters etc. I know of AWeber but wonder if there are any others anyone can recommend - (easy to use programs even better) ;-) Thanks very much Denise
  7. Hi Bluedreamer Thanks for your take on it. I have to say I was always veering towards floats but everytime I looked at some free css layouts to see how they did it they seemed to use absolute. I got a little confused and thought I'd get a little more advice before starting my design. Den
  8. Hi John Thanks for that, it is useful information I'll get on to that Firefox CSS Viewer. Den
  9. Hi Thomas I want 3 columns, 1 right sidebar and 1 left sidebar with main content in the middle, along with a header and footer. I haven't decided on fixed or fluid yet. In what situation would you consider it best to use floats/absolute positioning or is that still a little vague? Thanks for your input, everytime I think I've got the hang of it all something else crops up. Den
  10. Hi I am new here so hi. I have come across this forum and wondered if I can ask my first question please. I have built a few websites for myself and a few friends (although not a coding expert or anything) but am now looking at building my first site using css for layout etc. I have been reading books and searching the internet but my first area of confusion is as to how the majority of people lay out their columns etc, it apperas that using floats might be easier but almost all the trial templates I have looked at seem to use absolute/relative positioning. Opinions would be very much appreciated. Thanks Very Much Den
