Hi guys, I'm in the process of developing a couple of websites for clients who only promote their products/services to trade customers. I need to figure out the best way to protect specific pages (and custom post types!) from visitors unless they're signed in as "trade members." I need the ability to redirect them to a trade member registration page if not logged in or registered, and then also need the ability to manually approve them. There seem to be solid plugins for restricting content, but not ones that also handle the user registration side of things. WP-Members looked ok, but then it doesn't appear to support custom post types

Hi guys, I've built a custom theme for a very very computer illiterate client, and would like to make adding a gallery to the page a lot simpler than it currently is. At the moment to generate a gallery you have to click Add Media, you create the gallery and insert into post, switch to the html editor, grab the gallery code, paste it into a custom field and then it's done, but for this particular client this is a big ask. I've explored adding a new metabox both manually and using plugins and have been tinkering with the More Fields plugin, but I can't seem to find an option that opens the native media library and effectively spits out the gallery code (i.e. [gallery ids=105,104,103,102,101,100] ) into the new custom field which I can then access in the page template. Also, if it has any bearing on the issue, this is also a custom post type. Would really appreciate your help!

Hi guys, I'm potentially going to be working with a client that builds a range of furniture and wants some sort of interactive product configuration interface built into the site. So for example you could select a chair and in real time (using AJAX?) select different upholstery colours/patters and see it demo's on screen. This kind of facility is pretty common on car sites where you can "build" your own car by selecting the model/interior/colour/wheels etc etc e.g: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/polo-v/configure/837/paint/ Obviously that example is really "high end" and wouldn't be necessary for my client. But the essence of it is right. If anyone has any ideas or experience of building something like this, I'd love to hear about it. At it's most basic level it might be a case of using select menus or thumbnails to load seperarate images of the different components, so in the example above it might not be a complete chair but one image for chair type, one for wood, one for upholstery, one for feet etc etc

Hi guys, I'm looking into the possibility of helping a mate out (an estate agent) by developing a new website for him using wordpress to replace his current static site. At the moment when you click on "properties to let" it takes you to an external website, which is something we don't want. He currently uses an online property management service (LetMC) which allows him to enter each properties' details and it then gets uploaded to rightmove, zoopla etc etc using an XML file generated by LetMC. This is a link to a sample XML file from their website http://portal.letmc.com/PropertySearchService.asmx?WSDL In a nutshell, I need to know how I would go about using this XML file, to automatically create property pages on his own wordpress site once he adds them through his LetMC property management service. I have no experience of using XML prior to this, but have spent the last few hours watching tutorials and reading up on it so am grasping the basic concept of it. It would be great if anyone on here who has had any experience of using some sort of 3rd party feed to dynamically create content within a wordpress set up, could point me in the right direction. Hi guys, I've been looking for a simple user friendly way to implement a gallery on a page that displays a large image by default, with a list of thumbnails below it that when clicked on replace the current large image. Not too dissimilar to something like the one on rightmove (e.g. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-to-let/property-33615043.html) If I could somehow easily combine Nextgen in IMAGEBROWSER and IMAGELIST mode, that would do the trick, but they work independantly of each other. would really appreciate any input. I just installed Opera on my mobile and now ti works perfectly, so thanks! I didn't have any one else around to borrow a phone off and test. Odd behaviour from my phone, but it's a minor issue I suppose.

Ah that's promising then. I've got a HTC Desire HD. I did clear the cache and still get the same results. The odd thing though is that I've used that subdomain for well over a year, just not WP Multisites and it's only now that I have this issue. I'm not getting a general 404 page, but the specific one from my default wp multisite so it appears to be picking up something from the new "regime" if that makes sense. Possibly ruling out cache issues.

I had this issue recently too. I'm using bootstrap on almost everything now but I hated the responsive navigation markup. Now I just code the bar as I would have done if it wasn't responsive and use some javascript I found on a tutorial to convert the menu into a select menu when the page is loaded in a window under a specific size. I'm not great with javascript so I haven't yet figured out how to get it to switch between something like (nav.main-nav ul > nav.main-nav select) and then back again when the window is resized. At the moment it happens when the page is loaded. As a back up, I still write some css as a worse case scenario if the window is resized so it doesn't look too bad. Infact I'd love it if anyone could take a look at one of my working examples and see if they could show me how to improve the javascript. Latest example is www.diamonddecorators.co.uk

Hi guys, I've recently set up WP multisite on a development subdomain e.g. test.mydomain.com, for the purpose of building client websites and I use the subfolders method for new sites e.g. test.mydomain.com/client1, test.mydomain.com/client2 etc etc For some reason the numerous websites on that subdomain wont load on my mobile phone browser, I just get a 404 error page But... they all work fine on desktops and my iPad. As most of the sites I'm doing at the moment are mobile responsive, it's quite important that myself and the clients can review the work on a mobile handset. I've tried googling it, but the nature of the search terms means you get loads of irrelevant general stuff about wordpress on mobiles blah blah blah. I'd really appreciate your help on this. Thanks

Hi guys, I'm working on a custom wordpress theme for a client and would like to build a section on the homepage that displays the featured image for 3 "featured" pages. I would like the website owner to be able to somehow pick 3 out of however many of his pages to feature on the homepage. Now, this would be easy if I were using posts as I would just create a "featured" category and create a query to display them accordingly. How can I do this with pages? Thanks
