  1. Hello, I find Lynda.com an excellent resource for video tutorials on all the computer packages. You can pay monthly for approx £16 a month. It has so many courses at all levels and I have found it really helpful over the past year.
  2. I am reading them now but as with any copyright text it is very confusing!
  3. Thanks for your answer! So, if I wanted to create something a bit more cryptic and designed so it follows our style, for example having an icon of a graphic of a tv to represent You Tube, would this be allowed? Or do I have to use the You Tube logo? Thank you
  4. Hello, I'd really appreciate some advice with this please. I have been asked to create icons for Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Linkedin etc that match the style of icons that I created for my client's website. The icons will be used in the emails we send out to our customers. Are you allowed to do this or are there copyright restrictions? I've googled this and youtube and twitter have guidelines but I see stylised versions on websites all the time so I am a bit confused. Thanks!!

Thank you for your replies so far. So it is ok to choose any webfonts these days from sites like myfonts for body copy? Is it unlikely to default to arial, tahoma etc? I am asking as I don't want to advise my client to purchase a font if it is just going to default to arial anyway!

Hi, I have hopefully a straight forward question that I would appreciate help with. I am designing a website and had originally went for Tahoma for the body copy to go with Shaker as the headline font but have decided against Tahoma now. I'd like to know if it is advisable to go with another non-standard webfont for body copy or should these be used only for headings? Also, what would be a good standard webfont for body copy in terms of legiblity and compatibility? Thank you!
  7. Hi Zed, no I don't, I am trying to replace the images with the actual font. I didn't realise when I purchased the font it actually came with the web fonts too! Hi J.P. Thank you I will have a look at Cufon.
  8. Hi thanks for your reply. It works in safari but not FF version 4.0.1. I haven't tried in IE yet. Fasthosts came back again and said I can't have the MIME type changed as I am only on shared hosting

Hello, I would really appreciate someones help with this, it's driving me mad! I am trying to use a web font that I purchased for my site: http://www.victoriaosbornedesign.com I bascially want to change all the images I have used into the font so it is more accessible. The font is InLove and I purchased it from My Fonts. It doesn't seem to be working on Firefox but works in Safari. I contacted My Fonts and they said I need to change the MIME type on my server and to contact the service provider. I contacted Fasthosts and they were unhelpful. They said I would need to purchase a virtual server at £35 a month but wouldn't recommend as I didn't seem to have the knowledge to start messing around on the server side of things. Is purchasing a virtual server really what I need to do? Is there something else I can try? Thank you!
  10. Hello everyone, I just want to ask a quick question, I probably already know the answer but I just want my thoughts confirmed by those more experienced! I came across this gallery that I want to use on my portfolio website: http://coffeescripter.com/code/ad-gallery/ To add it to my site, do I just copy the css code into my current style sheet, the html into my own html and add the .js code onto my html file? There is a file called jquery.ad-gallery.pack.js too, do I add that to my html code too or should I be leaving them external? I know I'm probably being dumb but I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing instead of making a mess of my current code. THANKS!!
  11. Hi Babrees, it can be soul destroying when you have to work with something awful and the client won't budge, but sometimes we have to just do the work that pays the bills. I think you've done a great job on the site though, barely noticed the logo, not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing though! Agree with the other comments about needing more elements of flowers. Maybe some scattered petals in the background image? Keeps it minimal like the client wants but adds the relevant touch of what the site is about?
  12. Hi that's worked perfectly thank you!! It's those little details that catch me! Thanks Renaissance, I know I haven't put that text in the side bar properly, it's a quick fix until I get the look and feel of the site how I want it so thanks for the heads up. Will look at @font-face for a better solution. Thanks again guys!
  13. Hi Wickham thanks for your reply! I'm going to have more than one image so that the page scrolls down a bit. What should I be putting as the height for #rightcontent? Just delete the height altogether?
  14. Hi guys, I am making progress with my portfolio website and am having trouble with the footer. I want it to sit at the bottom of the page, for it to be seen when you scroll down to the bottom. I can't get it! It's floating in the middle of the page! What am I doing wrong? Here is a link: http://www.victoriaosbornedesign.com/iod-convention.html Also the Annual convention link isn't showing as active?? What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any tips!
  15. I found this site to be a bit alarming. It's all "Send us your money...", "Send us your money...", "Send us your money...". They are asking for the full amount but with no examples of their work and that pic of the 3 of them, one of them is a child??
