no, i just wasnt sure what the best methods were... like i posted alot of adverts on different sites and got no response, and figured it just wasnt the right kinda places to advertise. what would you say the best methods of promotion are?

i guess i dont really like where i live, that makes a difference HAHA...

well i can make a whole site in XHTML and CSS...completely. im fully capable at that. i just cant do PHP and all that scripting stuff...i can make a page, with all the fancy imagery and stuff, and position everything...you name it...it's just the more advanced functions that require scripting i cant do. im actually in a town...so i guess i could get some cards.

hmmm...everyone i guess...no im kidding. well at the moment mostly just small businesses i guess...or more personal pages for individuals... i dont wanna take on anything too big, im not that experienced. i like to do anything nature related too, but i guess thats very limited HAHA

im struggling to get work basically... i see plenty of jobs advertised, but not the right kind of ones. for starters, i really wanna focus on the design side of things...i used to think i would have to have some programming knowledge, but then i was told i wouldnt really need to, and i can focus on being a designer and be ok. and on top of that, i figured i could always get someone else to do required programming stuff, and give them a cut of the pay, as im sure thats what some others do. and i also really dont wanna get involved with any agencies or anything like that...even for brief periods...i wanna keep it as personal and friendly as possible...me and client, and thats it. i know the work is out there, but it's just a question of where and how to find out, so please help in anyway you can. and btw, i know i just described some quite specific conditions up there, but essentially i'll do what i have to do...if what i want isnt possible, then i'll do what i have to, but im trying to do things like i said above.

HA! yes, it's gonna be the name for my Design Business. i guess i just gotta keep thinking...

so, i had alot of nice "brand" names i had thought of, and every one was taken. i dont know what the heck to do now. if i go ahead and use one of them anyway, aside from it not being as good, can they do something about it legally? because how many names left alone are there now?! i may go ahead and use one of them, i just dont want any...unpleasantries

what is the most important thing to do when making sure your site will be viewed properly, at least good enough, on mobiles? do you use emulators etc? i assumed that the best way to do it would be to make a second CSS that is accessed if the user is on a mobile. so basically, what methods do you use?

im trying to find out how to test your php scripts, without having to have a web host! im seeing so many conflicting ideas on this, or half solutions...as in not really explaining what you need to do... anyone please help with a simple, reliable solution?

Hey... if anyone could point me in the direction of a basic, easy to follow tutorial that teaches you how to make collapsible content (you know, roll the mouse over, content is revealed...click...content is revealed etc). it's driving me crazy ive allready tried following the steps in my book...dont where the heck im going wrong please help

i tried it in my code and its displaying fine for me, but is it web safe? im just thinking what if it doesnt work for others... if not ill make image gifs for the text of course

ive seen a few good ones for buttons and stuff, but not many. and ive seen pretty much nothing for making web layouts with Gimp... anyone have any good suggestions? otherwise ill have to use some other software for most things!

right now im learning....everything HAHA... i want to be a designer, so obviously XHTML/CSS/Javascript img software etc... but i understand that as a freelance designer, your gonna need something like PHP arent ya? but how much? just the basics? or is it a case of the more you know the better, but a small amount will do? but isnt there programs that do the php for you? like Joomla and the like, so you can just focus on the design? if this post sounds a bit dumb, i really know very little about this area, but from the little i understand ill have to get into some of it right?

might seem a bit of a waste of time asking, as yes, i see people saying you dont need qualifications it's the portfolio that counts etc...but doesnt it matter to some people? you know there are those types that arent happy till you have the magic piece of paper... im talking certification etc, for html and css or anything for that matter, php etc. are there any worth having that could make a difference to your employment prospects?

ok... im not getting into image software practice yet, i havent finished working with HTML and CSS, so im holding off. but still, im always trying to get a bit of knowledge of things ill practice in the future, so it's easier when i get there. and to satisfy my general curiosity. so im just wondering how exactly a photoshop image, can then become a web layout, with functioning HTML etc... just a brief, or rather detailed explanation...whatever....please, would be greatly appreciated. finding answer's to questions through google search can be a pain, or in my case, sometimes impossible HA.

can you buy software from america or anywhere? i ask this, because one, its cheaper, and two for some strange reason how come it seems every software store seems to be outside the uk? except for amazon. but also, i thought someone said you couldnt buy, say, photoshop from outside the UK.

so obviously photoshop is EXPENSIVE...too expensive for me, so what about photoshop elements? im a learning web designer/programmer and would like to know if photoshop elements will likely provide me with all i need. i mean, im at least mostly just gonna be using it to create some images for websites, like banner images etc. some people seem to think it probably contains pretty much all you ever end up needing from the full on version of photoshop...so what do you think?
