  1. added some foliage, lightened the tone. THanks for comments, esp Dizi. Strangely enough, all the foliage and wood effects were default patterns in GIMP. opinions people, even if it is just "meh".
  2. Yes, this happens occasionally ... I am bored, and I want to program something. Give me some ideas, and I will maybe even write a tutorial
  3. well i have made one or two changes since that shot, the main one being a light gradient at the top of the page. how about a splash or calligraphy sweeps type thing behind the logo?

    sorry .. but .. what?
  5. ouch.. pwned lol, i will try with some other colours, see how it goes... maybe a white to grey grad might work.

count your { and compare it to your count of } if they don't match, look more closely
  7. Hey theere people! Someone told me that i "need" a portfolio in the modern webbing business (not like spiderman)... So heres my attempt. The content is a slidy boxy thing (like Hotel Oxford), going horizontally. There are 3 pages. The menu items animated upwards by 10px in a nice way when hovered. They change colour wehn clicked. I am busy finalising the content and so on, so expect to see a live version before the weekend.

lol sorry... my text editor usually helps me out by showing me the matching pair (eg shows start when i am next to the end or vice versa). Good spot though.
  10. But seriously, welcome to WDF. Have a nice time, post your problems, and try to help out where you can!

    you could also use: $result1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM artikel_articles WHERE a_id = ".$a_id.") or die( mysql_error() );
  12. Hi Thom, Yes, i can supply the source (see attached zip) It would be easy enough to add another option for the "type" such as "Custom", which when it is selected, a new input box appears... However, as you said - if you wanted to use a custom regex, its not so difficult - just add a new key to the REGEX array, and change the value= in the iNI gen.zip
  13. Yes, it is truly a great day for creating mailers easily... I have created a generator for my PHP Mailer - now you can just submit your form to a certain page, edit a few details (in a nice javascript-ed form), click a button, and an INI file will be generated for you. The INI file will be returned as correctly named download, and instructions are included Give it a whirl: http://www.toldiandmacbryde.co.uk/mailgen/ btw to post to it, use this as your <form> element: <form action='http://www.toldiandmacbryde.co.uk/mailgen' action='POST'>
  14. Possibly the funniest youtube video I have seen: just think of all the time + effort gone into making them .. and then that happens I especially love the one near the end where the dad just throws it into the ground, with his 2 year old son watching ... made me properly LOL.
  15. and there is a margin/padding=0 on the image as well? if so, its a conundrum... i know this is definitely a "no", but is the image itself free of whitespace.
  16. its really "any one or two of the above" rather than all of them combined... if the content is great I couldn't give a **** about the design, but a great design will make me be more forgiving about the content.
  17. remove the "new line" character (represented as \n technically, but displayed a line break).
  18. they can nick the styles quite easily if they are somewhat web savvy.
  19. AJAX is a culmination of HTML, JavaScript, and PHP. As such, it would be best to learn each seperately before trying to combine them in any moderate way.
  20. Hey there, Things you should do next: * HTML - try coding from scratch. Don't bother about images, just work out how to imitate various structures * JavaScript - try out jQuery, a really easy library with some great JS tutorials * PHP - a content management system - simple as.
  21. try WordPress? Or is your knowledge of PHP zero?
  22. the most likely culprit is all the "position: absolute"'s you have in there.
  23. I tend not to be too subtle in my extraction techniques. * store all data on a server I own, which they dont have FTP access to * email them an invoice * print off a copy of the invoice and take it to the final meeting * put a date on your invoice if they don't pay after 20 days, tell them that if they haven't paid by 30, you will take their site off the net. If they still don't pay, take it off.
