  1. Loving the retro 90's feel
  2. That's because the default format when saving a file is as a layered PNG. You shouldn't be saving images in Fireworks like this for direct use on a website - you should be slicing, setting the format , then exporting the slices (the sliced exports will be flat PNG).

Of course, just give each one a different ID. My own website uses this for the graphic page title you see in the top-left of the content window on each page, for example: <h2 id="postID-21" class="pageTitle"> <span class="postTitleImage"> <span class="postTitleText">Magento</span> </span> </h2>

Thanks...I'm using a WordPress plugin to grab the latest tweet, which then displays the feed in a minimal format...then CSS works the magic

    Try: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> http://24ways.org/2005/transitional-vs-strict-markup

Your H2 is a block-level container, and the <img> you've used for the title appears below this, then the #UCA div is width 300px and floated left, so the pushed-down image will wrap to the #UCA container. How about giving the H2 an ID and using CSS to set the image as a background image? You can then remove the <img> and all should be well.

It's because you've declared a Strict Doctype. Try Transitional XHTML if you need to add inline styling like this.
  8. You need to apply the margin:0 auto; to #page, as the container will be full width (no dimensions specified). You won't be able to center vertically using margin:auto; though I'm afraid. Lot's of tuts available online to do this, but it's not as straightforward as horizontal centering.
  9. For starters, you've placed all of your containers outside of the <body>. Move <body> to the next line below </head>. I'm afraid I don't really understand the rest of the post.

I used a great jQuery plugin called "jFlow" on my site to achieve a similar effect (http://toolboxdigital.com). I integrated it into WordPress but it should be pretty easy to add to whatever technology you are using. Tutorial can be found here: http://www.webdesignbooth.com/step-by-step-to-create-content-slider-using-jflow-a-minimalist-jquery-plugin/ Very easy to use and lightweight.
  11. "As far as Joomla goes I really don't like the admin area interface. I'd try Drupal." Drupal's learning curve is ten times that of Joomla's, not really for beginners.
  12. Try using display:inline-block; for #img-bg.
  13. Did you try adding some top margin to .dropdownMenu ul?
  14. Who says? I charge a fee for customer's wanting to use PP, I personally think the fees are the wrong way around anyway. It's there for convenience for the customer (it can be used to pay via Credit Card, for example), why should it cost me money? A transfer from the US to UK will incur a charge on the sender's end (or so I've been told) - PayPal effectively shifts this charge to me, that seems unfair to me. At the end of the day, if the client does not want to pay a fee then transfer or cheque is there for them.

+1 Nothing wrong with a table layout for something that will end up in an inbox. Trying to do even a sem-complex layout in CSS would just be horrendous.
