  1. Hi there, I have recently joined this forum in an effort to share my 9 years self employed freelancing experience help with any budding web designers/developers and answer any problems or questions they have. I am an independant freelancer having worked for government before going out on my own back in 2001. I specialise in dynamically driven sites, SEO, graphic design and internet marketing, but most importantly the BUSINESS side of what it takes to operate successfully as a freelancer. So if you have anything to ask then please do not hesitate! Looking forward to get to know you guys over the next few months! John http://www.start-a-web-design-business.com
  2. Roy, just because you intend on starting your own web design business doesnt necessarily mean you have to be a technical wiz. Think about it. Many successful business owners, if not most, spend their time managing projects, people and resources, they DONT spend their time on the technical "hands on" stuff. Learn to understand this. There's nothing wrong with outsourcing. Take it from me, Ive been involved as a freelance web designer now for almost 10 years, and the biggest lesson Ive learnt is this..... DONT TRY AND DO EVERYTHING YOURSELF!!! The 2 years you intend on "learning" stuff now, could be 2 years of potential earning!!!! You're missing out! If you're serious about starting a web design business and you want to fast track the process, be sure to take a look at http://www.start-a-web-design-business.com. The overall message Im trying to get through to you is this. Be a BUSINESS OWNER, and not just a techy. Its always the "BOSS" that makes the money, not the workers! Best of luck to you. John
  3. Theres a much cheaper one available at http://www.start-a-web-design-business.com
  4. Sure Janepenelope, I have a product that is targeted at freelance web developers. Im looking to do a joint venture with a large list to promote it. Commission is 50%, payments are processed via Clickbank. The product can be viewed here http://www.webdesigndocuments.com Cheers, John
  5. Instead of trying to write your own, why dont you try these ready made templates. Youll save so much time and will have a proposal ready in 5 minutes. http://www.webdesigndocuments.com
  6. You should always use documentation and proper contracts when dealing with clients to avoid situations like this. Check this site out - its helped me immensely. http://www.webdesigndocuments.com
  7. Hi guys, I know this is a big ask, but Id like to get in touch with the owners of this forum for a proposed joint venture. Again, I understand that this is a big ask, and I can only imagine that they are most likely bombarded with requests of this nature all the time, but Id like to put forward my proposal and ask for some feedback or advice. Could someone point me in the right direction? Cheers, John
