p.p. is an abbreviation of per procurationem, basically means it is signed on behalf of another person.
  2. Please tell me you are young and naive, either that or joking... surely anyone with even the most basic HTML knowledge / their own website knows about the alt attribute - don't they?! Or maybe you're just assuming "tags" means it references it's own object like 'input' 'img' 'ol' 'div' etc, and not a sub attribute of these objects such as 'height' 'width' 'alt' 'title' etc.
  3. That code is appalling. Do you even realise that the output of it would be missing the Name like so: Hey Welcome to the site, glad you joined, have fun! As you didn't even bother to keep the same character case when you pulled the data from the array. Also, what is the point in writing the double echo's and extra paragraphs? Do you always write more code than you have to? Surely it would have been simpler to just have: <? $a = array( 'welcome' => 'Welcome to the site, glad you joined, have fun!', 'name' => 'Reapa' ); echo '<p>Hey '.$a['name'].'<br /><br />'.$a['welcome'].'</p>' ?> No?
  4. EliteStyles, how is your code different to mine which I posted days earlier? It isn't, well it is slightly different as you don't bother to include alternative content, which is the anchor and image I included. But otherwise, it's the same method as what was posted above... Eskymo, try using <object data="movie.swf" height="450" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="720"> <param name="movie" value="move.sif" /> <a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" title="Download Adobe Flash Player"><img alt=Download Adobe Flash Player" height="450" src="download_flash.jpg" width="720" /></a> </object> The object creates your movie parameter, and the extra anchor tag (which also contains the image) within the object is the alternative content. You can get rid of the anchor tag and image and replace which a standard paragraph if wanted, its just whatever else is inside the object will be served as the alternative if the flash movie cannot be played (as the end user has no flash, but thats very rare these days anyway).
  5. This is a simple and often overlooked method which should do you just fine: <object data="movie.swf" height="450" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="720"> <param name="movie" value="move.sif" /> <a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" title="Download Adobe Flash Player"><img alt=Download Adobe Flash Player" height="450" src="download_flash.jpg" width="720" /></a> </object>

ewww... That www.arthouse81.com domain is a link farm with a zero PageRank! Having your sites link on that page will do you much more harm than good from a SEO point of view. It's filled with poor quality links to sites selling adult medicines all sitting on a single page, its awful. All you need to do to check the PageRank is scan the multiple datacentres and they all return a zero PageRank. So where the heck you got the "Valid PageRank 4" from is beyond me, but it looks like you simple copyed the image onto your server for the fun of it!

You could force the download of the file using a programming language such as PHP which would overcome the problem, and you also wouldn't need to mess about with Dave's option of having to explain to the end-user how to save it to disk from inside of Acrobat Reader... the following code snippet is really basic but gets the job done: <?php // Force download of a file... if(!empty($_GET['download']) and file_exists(str_replace(strrchr($_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'], "/"), "", $_SERVER['SCRIPT_FILENAME'])."/downloads/".$_GET['download'])) { header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'.$_GET['download']); die(); } ?> Then you would put your files you want downloaded inside of the "downloads" folder, as you have already done anyway, then to download the file you would use: <a href="?download=document.pdf">Download Here</a> That's the download link to force the download of the file "document.pdf" contained within the "downloads" folder. If you do use this remember to rename the your html file to have a .php extension, and include the PHP code at the very top of the document, before the <html> area.
  8. No. The 18th of April is the renewal day for the domain, as can be seen by the whois data: Creation Date: 18-Apr-2003 Expiration Date: 18-Apr-2010 So maybe it "expired" yesterday (18th April '07) and he (Dave, from mezzoblue who owns the CSS Zen Garden domain) just needed to renew it again, but thats just a guess.
  9. Well that shouldn't be too difficult to modify, however you may have to set the class on the list item, as setting it on the image may result in the image file showing above the CSS background image and I'm sure what effect z-index would have as the image is defined through the href link, unless you gave the image another ID, not sure what would happen without playing with it actually... I chose the <span> tag option for the sake of simplicity and also its semantic as your defining correctly the "Item Sold!" text if the CSS doesn't fire, but a class should be doable, good luck with the project!
  10. Having never used Contribute I'm not sure what its limits are, could you tell me what it is capable of please, e.g. what can you add? Could you change an elements class through it? How would you want it to be controlled, the code should be pretty adaptable if you have an idea of how you want it to work in mind, and if it cannot be adapted then it shouldn't be too difficult to redo parts p.s. The stylesheet can be found under the rel=stylesheet link in the <head> part of the document, it's location is ./style.css and I've also just uploaded a .zip of the folders contents which can be downloaded here if thats easier.
  11. Ben, your option wouldn't add a sold image over the existing image of the product in question, it would replace the original with some default image... and as Eskymo did say: "I don't want the client to have to go and create another image with a sold sign on it and then have to export that into the correct place and then upload it and then replace the existing image..." That does kind of point your idea to the trashcan as it wouldn't keep the original image with just an overlay of a sold sign... it would be replacing it with only the sold image, plus your PHP code is rather too simple, if you were going to go with an advanced PHP option instead of using CSS you could have just as easily expanded your simple code to include the imagecreatefromgif (or imagecreatefrompng and all the rest of those) functions and dynamically recreate the image with the sold sign overlay. But yeah, thats quite a bit more complicated than an easy CSS option. Anyway, enough said and lets move onto the simple demo and hope this helps you Eskymo Simple photo gallery with sold sign overlay There's a couple of comments in the CSS to explain one little Opera "hack" needed for the overlay to work properly.
  12. Use the z-index property to overlay a transparent gif on top of the standard image. For example you could have your images with class="thumbnail" then when they get sold the class could change to class="thumbnail sold" which would then apply the .sold properties to the image as well as the standard thumbnail class. You could then use the z-index and position the sold overlay using the background property. Hopefully that makes enough sense to get you started on it, if not I'll whip up a demo at some point if needed.
  13. You may want to make sure the site actually works before advertising it or asking for feedback. Your upload system rejects .jpg / .png / and for all I know it may reject .gif and .bmp's as well, I gave up after having two of the allowed file types rejected and will never visit that site again because its obviously not reliable. Other than that the design is rather plain, I mean it gets the job done, its only an image host after all, service is much more important than design, but yours doesn't perform on either aspect.
  14. I've had nothing but trouble with 123-reg in the past, and they're by no means the cheapest .co.uk registrar in the UK either... 1&1 is however the cheapest which I know of, at just £4.68 for the standard 2 years co.uk registration. I've got quite a few domains registered with 1&1 and they've been brilliant over the years.
