Hi. I have a company who I use for reseller hosting for my clients websites. I make a little bit off the top as a reseller and I try and offer my clients pretty fair hosting price because many are small businesses.

However my hosting company keep coming back each years and saying that they need to up their fees again. Their reasoning is increase in hardware costs, inflation or a bunch of similar reasons. As a result I either eat the costs myself and lose more of the little profit I make from hosting. Or I increase my rates to my clients and I have to go back to them each year when it's time for them to renew and say "Hey, I have to increase your yearly renewal again" While they're fine to take a increase an $10 increase a couple of years in a row, I'm getting worried when this becomes a yearly thing with my providers and I have to increase my clients renewal every year and if they'll get to the point where they're getting the same service but with a constant price increase.

So how do you deal with the constant price increases when running hosting?

Price increases are going to keep happening year on year.

Nothing you can do about it as hardware costs are going up as are building rents and utilities. Even software is getting more expensive.

Tell your clients they need to pay more.

I feel like it'll hit a point where some of them might end up moving their website elsewhere because I'm going to have to increase their hosting by $10 - 15 each year.

Nothing you can do about it. Inflation is part of cost of doing business.

If they decide to migrate to a new host that's their decision. It happens millions of time every day around the world.

I pay for a dedicated server. That way I retain full control and am able to spread the cost across all my clients. It works out far more profitable than a reseller account.

It also doesn't help that cPanel keep chucking in YoY price increases as well. Feel your pain, buddy! Cannot wait until the hardware and energy nonsense is sorted.

Not sure it will get sorted. Until the AI bubble bursts cost will keep going up faster than inflation.
