Hey guys, I am new here. My wordpress sites are taking way too long to load now [over 2 seconds] so I was told on an SEO forum that I can convert the sites to HTML and they will load much faster. Searching the net for instructions I came across this video which shows the process in nice easy to follow steps BUT what's showing in that video is not what I am seeing on my end.

So guys, this is what is showing in Simply Static plugin Settings in my dashboard. If anyone can tell me what I should do here please would be great? Thanks in advance.

 

 

 

 

If your wordpress site is slow to load it's probably a combination of your hosting, theme, plugins and images.

Fix all of these and your problems will be over.

The simply static plugin isn't the answer unless you have a really simple site.

I had paid 2 developers to optimize the speed and at the onset it was loading fast like when new but after a few weeks resorted back to slower speed again. This is one site:

I'd suggest checking out the PageSpeed Insights for ideas on where to start - https://pagespeed.web.dev

What are the other sites?

As already mentioned, hosting, theme, plug ins and images are the places to start.

I personally wouldn't look to convert the website to HTML, you shouldn't need to. 

Your biggest win will come from running a check with tools like Pingdom and PageSpeed Insights. You can use those to identify the biggest drags on your site. e.g. I could quickly see that Youtube, Google Tag manager and Google maps are all having an impact.

I'd also look at using a Cache plug-in so people coming to your website are served a static version of your site rather than one that calls back to your PHP scripts/databases that power WP based sites. Minifying/lazy loading images will help as well.

I am not a WP guy, so I cannot help you with recommendations there. However, your site loaded in 2.4s for me. That is far from bad. It seems that most of that time is spent generating the webpage. This leads me to believe that it's either a slow server/database or a plugin.

Thanks but I am trying to have my sites load under 1 sec and ideally like half a second so anything over 1 sec seems slow, to me. 

Bin the you tube thing, dump everything from google, stop using a page builder.

There is a whole load of code being loaded that you don't need. No idea who these developers were but they stole your money.

But that's not the main issue. The main problem is the random and untrustworthy content. Are you really the:

"The Best Malware Removal Service in New York"

Where is the proof of this?

Simplfy the whole site and rework the content to meet the need of your clients. This means for example adding calls to action on every page.

I've used quite a few Cache plug-ins over the years, and of that list https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fastest-cache/ is the one I go back to more than the others.

This is another good one https://wordpress.org/plugins/hummingbird-performance/, and combine that with https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-smushit/.

I can't guarantee these will fix all your issues, but you should see a tangible improvement.

It's going to make very little difference. You need to fix the underlying issues first.

Run a test on the pagespeed editor @Jogeta316 suggestedf and you can see all the problems.

There is no quick fix for your site. It going to need a lot of work to be where you want to be.
