August 6, 200818 yr I have a site which displays perfectly on the newest 'release' versions of IE, Opera and Firefox. It also works fine with only a couple of minor visual glitches on IE5.5 and IE6. So I'm quite happy. Today, I decided to try it on IE8. "Oh My God". The navigation menu (which uses sprites and CSS rollovers) does not work: the links cannot be clicked, making the site pretty much unusable. Question is, should I try to fix the problem now (possibly causing the site to break on other browsers) or wait to see if it works in the next version of IE8? It is only a beta after all...
August 10, 200818 yr i would say wait. Theywshouldnt really make a browser that has websites that work on older versions as they have been coded for them. Just wait, a few minority will be using IE8 Beta 1. I am but am emulating IE7 as so many websites do not work with it.
August 10, 200818 yr IE8 is still in development and it's not suitable for public release or general use, by all means test it but the production version will probably be quite different. The rendering problems you are seeing are typical of a development browser. Best advice is to wait until IE8 is officially released. It will be several weeks before usage really picks up so if any sites need tweaking then's the time to do it.
