Would there be any negative SEO effect of setting up a 301 redirect from www.example.co.uk/ie to www.example.com/ie ?

Our respective UK and Ireland sites are at those addresses, and we have just discovered a flyer printing error...hence the redirect request.

I don't think so, 301 would be the best course of action. Quick check tho, do you run both example.com and example.co.uk as separate sites or does example.co.uk resolve to example.com?

Separate sites through Wordpress Multisite.

Ok routing the one path should be fine, I take it there's no internal links on example.co.uk to example.co.uk/ie?

No - example.co.uk/ie is a non-existent page.

You can go ahead James there wont be any negative effect in terms of  SEO because you are going to implement a permanent redirection and It would act as a additional advantage for your domain.

301, means "Moved Permanently" and recommended for SEO pints.

There is no negative effect of this in your site.

No, There will be no bad effect on your website.  301 is the permanent redirection. However, you might see a little ranking drop.

Just go with 301 redirections.
