November 6, 20169 yr I've been reading through threads on 'which CMS?' here. I know it's the perennial question and the best answer seems to be 'it depends what you want to do' - and perhaps your level of expertise also. So I'll outline both and would be grateful for any opinion. Me: I can build simple sites using html and css - I haven't got to grips with CMS yet and I'd rather not - but it seems I must. Tried one small site with Wordpress and didn't like it at all - but haven't tried very hard to be fair. I don't know php but could learn I guess. Website needs to have/be able to: sell audio, video and article (some sort of protected pdf/ebook format) downloads membership/subscriber area/log in a blog for a single blogger This is probably quite simple in web design terms? I just don't know which way to go. Many thanks Amelia
November 7, 20169 yr Wordpress can do all that. There are a whole bunch of plugins you can use for selling digital diwnloads and manage memberships. Blogging is at the core. There are other CMS platforms you can use but to do as you want is a doddle with Wordpress. If you need a hand setting it up send me a PM. It shouldn't take more than an hour to get everything installed and configured. All you then need to do is find a theme you like.
December 8, 20169 yr I think WordPress is the best CMS now a days. There are lots of reasons you can consider: WordPress is a popular platform Easy to operate Cheaper to build The highest number of developers creating themes and plugins for it. Search Engine Optimization is made simple. E-commerce is available on WordPress.
December 9, 20169 yr If you are building it yourself and have no real coding experience, the WordPress is a good option, mainly as there are some 43,000 free plugins and many more premium plugins that can handle practically everything you could ever need. The main problem is actually sifting through the multiple choices available.
