  1. I've been reading through threads on 'which CMS?' here. I know it's the perennial question and the best answer seems to be 'it depends what you want to do' - and perhaps your level of expertise also. So I'll outline both and would be grateful for any opinion. Me: I can build simple sites using html and css - I haven't got to grips with CMS yet and I'd rather not - but it seems I must. Tried one small site with Wordpress and didn't like it at all - but haven't tried very hard to be fair. I don't know php but could learn I guess. Website needs to have/be able to: sell audio, video and article (some sort of protected pdf/ebook format) downloads membership/subscriber area/log in a blog for a single blogger This is probably quite simple in web design terms? I just don't know which way to go. Many thanks Amelia
  2. Hello James. I'm sure this makes you far more than a beginner!
  3. Hello Tim, I'm near the Quantocks. Some fine, fine scenery round these parts. As I see on your website. Not sure I get the joke though. If you know of any events, groups or anything in the area for web designers I'd be interested to know. I've been working in a void for ages really. Just me and the googling for help.
  4. Very funny. Thank you. Good to know what fate awaits me if I continue to descend into geekdom.
  5. Hello Everybody, I'm a novice web designer based in Somerset. In fact I don't even like to call myself that! Although I can code in html, css and a little javascript - albeit using reference sources. And I maintain a few simple sites and non-techey people think me very clever and even give me money for my services I'm embarking on a new website and really need to expand my knowledge. Many thanks Amelia
