Web Application Review!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not a website review but a web app review this time :)

I'm developing this due to the much loved service from webagogo shutting down :(

This App is free to use, it analyzes a variety of aspects on a website and returns a score along with recommendations on improovment.

(It will also remain free on completion - The purpose is to promote web accessibility.)

Whilst I develop it I would really appreciate comments, ideas, preferences... on how you think it would be improved.

ps. a note to developers, i am developing an XML API so you can use the service on your websites too, message me for more info.

Thanks,

Mike

That looks like a col validator although I tried to register on the site and couldn't due to a mysql error. Is this because it is still under development?

If so then I look forward to seeing its results once completed :)

I'm trying to sign up to use but get this error after entering my details and clicking the submit button.

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Field 'metaverify' doesn't have a default value [1364]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.

Looks good but unless you offer it free (no registration) people will simply go elsewhere.

oh ... and I'll be interested in the API, possibly!

to project_lumino and thegman89,

the signup is resolved this was due to mixing the phpbb database with the validator database.

(minor bug)

to PointandStare i put alot of thought into the sign up,

and am still in two minds about it.

There are reasons to have it on sign up,

but i think i will also allow websites to be added to a guest account in the future.

For sign up:

1. only the user can update their website - (a code is given to them).

2. security against malicious people.

3. security against malicious spiders/bots.

Against Sign Up:

1. Takes Time

2. Just another unwanted account

(I need to think about this more before i remove it)

ps the api is currently only available to indexed sites.

It will be available to developers (for any website) through the use of a code. - this ties in closely with the login issues.

the current api only provides the important html, however the final will be in xml.

the api will be avalible by adding &output=xml to the end of the result page.

example:

http://www.sakuiweb.com/design/validator/r...&output=xml

I have enabled the analysis of websites without login temporarily so you can use it without registering, please let me know what you think.

Still looking for more input on the validator,

i have decided it is quite workable to leave the functionality open without forcing the user to login.

It is now set up now so you can either login and assign a domain to your sign in name or just add it to a public account.

This is the way it will be staying so thanks PointandStare for your input on that.
