Copy still needs a lot of work though and portfolio is lacking a little.

The makings of a very nice site. Could do with a few graphics/images to personalize it a bit more.

Yes it is. It is not really part of the company site but it is meant to be on the site in a visible place so I put it on the right.

with all that's going on in the background and the logo, the main site itself is kinda...meh. You've kind of set yourself up to go with texture and smooth areas and it kind of looks like cardboard in the middle. It just feels like there should be...more.

There really isn't a lot going on in the background. Accessibility and readability is key which is where the content and portfolio work shines through, although I am lacking that at the moment.

 

And to be quite honest, your website is in exactly the same situation, but your background actually takes more attention away.

This is a nice tidy site, but I agree with the comments about adding a little value visually. Graphical content doesn't have to detract from your content, and when used well, it will enhance it. It would be nice to see even an image of one of your portfolio sites or anything on the front page.

The lines look very long and lonely in the large space you have set aside for your content - another column or some pictures would break it up nicely IMO.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but all I see is a plain black background.... should I see something else?

It's a very dark blue textured background.

 

I am looking to putting a random portfolio site on the left hand side below the news archives bit, which I will probably take off as it doesn't serve much use.

 

But like I said the content and copy will be changed, which will result in a work around with the whitespace etc and have some images in there.

You need to validate your CSS there are errors. The HTNL is fine.

 

Also dosn't look anything special, looks very "templatey" if you added some good graphics and a little bit of life into it then you would probably have a good design.

Thanks for that, it isn't actually a problem as such. The W3C CSS validator only validates CSS2. The CSS that fails is CSS3 which is ignored by browsers that can't do CSS3. As such although it fails the validator it is perfectly valid for all browsers (not sure about IE5 and below but it should be).

Thank you. I got some Istockphotos and put them in last night, but I agree with the need for more pictures and I also need to work on the copy a bit more too.

the site is smooth great use of colour. I have a few quirks for you

"web design and web developement" In ornage? and Glossy? no. Make it yellow. It will match your design since you have no orange on your site unless you thing goldenrod is orange. But its not.

 

your home sitemap contact. looks out of place up top it should be moved down a bit or in the footer IMO.

also you may want a better logo to suit your site and make your identity otherwise its a great site.

I have taken the gloss off, and the text actually looks clearer now. I have also moved the links down so they are just about touching the main navigation which I think looks better.

Done. I have lined it up so it's the same distance on each side from the curve.

May be I'm a little bit too hard, but i dont see what makes the design different from all the other free templates?

When I 1st looked at the site my eye's went all over the place there was nothing to draw my eyes to anything.

There is a little to much space around the container??

The links should be more clear that they are links I searched for about 1 min trying to find the nav, I was getting confused with the big nav and sub nav

I am going to add some more emphasis on the content at some point, like you said it doesn't draw the eye.

at very first look, it is very difficult find out what your website is all about.......however you need to send clear message to your visitors, what services they can get from your website. website design is okay and need to have some more graphics....

Yeah I know, copy is key and I haven't got around to doing it yet. Need to be a web design whore and sell myself.
