assuming, a web-design project consumes 70 hours of work, how many workdays would that be? Or how long would it take for a small to medium sized company to finish this project?

 

My boss' calculation:

70hours, 1-2 men should be 5 workdays = 2 weeks

 

The site is nothing fancy, but I doubt 2 weeks will suffice.

 

Any experiences?

concept: 10 h = x days
design: 35 h = x days
coding: 15 h = x days

 

Project:

- Image, representative web site for a small company

- 12-20 pages, Templates

- no Back-End, Front-End only, focus on Layout, Design

- we will provide style-guide/corporate design

- initial content only/dummy.-content

 

I think the calculated costs are rather realistic, but we are unsure about the duration of the project. My boss wants this site like yesterday .... :/

Concept, I would have thought would need a bit more than 10 hours, sometimes things just dont pan out how you would like and you have to rethink.. I would double that in order to enable a contingency.

 

Design and Coding would entirely depend on features and layouts.

thx Fuzzy Logic. The content is ready, also navigation structure, market analysis & stuff. it is a b2b-site, target audience rather homogenous and boring. We've alredy finished a pre-concept we could provide. Design and Layout, clean and simple. Nothing to fancy

Myself I would take your 70 hours and double it.

 

Just to be safe, would rather hand a project over early than late..

 

Anyway 70 hours.. How many hours a day do you work? My self I'm anywhere from 6-18hours a day - I work from home.

 

However in an office you do what 35 hours a week after an hours lunch 7 hours a day? So 70 hours = 10 days.. I would double that to 20 though

As said above it all depends on your work environment i work 08:30-17:30 with a hour lunch so i would say 8 work days for a single person, but if i was to split the work i would say 6 days. Having double the people does not mean it will take half of the time.
