I`m building a website and i hope you are willing to help me by giving me some feedback.

my website is www.websignpost.com

 

It`s a website with links to other websites by category for example, educational or funny.

I`ve also made some articles on entertainment subjects, like movies and music.

 

If you have any ideas or suggestions i`d love to hear them

Hi

I see it as a website showing what You like. I mean it shows what is your favourite movies, songs, pictures or othet things.

 

You might think that all the movies you have listed are action packed or will put everyone on the edge of their seat, but might not be the case with others.

 

I am not sure what you are trying to achive with this website.

 

People might not like your taste in everything you have collected and listed on this website, don't spend too much time on this kind of projects.

 

 

Also your domain name has no any relation to the content or the idea.

 

No offence, just being very honest:-)

well i`m still working on the lists and i try to avoid things like best or greatest, because as you pointed out its a opinion.

and i search on the internet for general opinions about the movies.

 

The name websignpost comes from a signpost on the internet, on top of the mainpage are categories and if you click on them there are links to other websites. Therefor a signpost.

I started the website with that idea.

I have to agree with Newman, I don't get it. Google's mission is “to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful”; they are very good at it. If I want more specialised information, search results point me to any number of well established sites such as IMDB. That's how people find stuff on the web, they won't see value in a website that categorises small parts of it. Sorry if that was harsh, but I think you will be disappointed if you are expecting Web Signpost to attract any traffic.

I understand that and i`m not even going to try to compete with Google (lol).

 

But lets say you search for some funny website, than you`ll only get website hits which feature the word funny or are the most popular.

for example i find the website www.badassoftheweek.com very entertaining. its about badasses.... people for example who have done really heroic things.

There would be no way i would have thought about that website hence i would probably not find it on google.

On my website i`ll give the links to things not easy to be found or are just plain stumble upon.

 

Same goes for imdb you need to know what you`re searching for, the lists are just to help and advice some movies.

I Must agree with the others and their comments in regard to your website. Its looks nice and all but what is the point of it? Instead of showing people what the 15 best songs are show them how to get them! Do some How-To's or How-To-Get articles. Then maybe Google will find your site useful. Your webpage is like a social media profile of your likes and interests. I mean if your making a webpage just to make one then goal accomplished! Find a Niche and try to build useful quality content for it!

Add some meta decription and Meta keywords to your site. Meta description should not exceed 150 characters. This suggestions is from website optimization perspective

I visited your website and it seems to be good. You will need to update your meta tags properly. I also experienced that it takes more time to load your website on mobile.

Well, it is quite good but also needs some updates to look even better.

Don't really see the point of the links tbh, you'll need to add some useful content to get any traffic I think!

If you have some kind of ranking system it could be quite good. So the sites could be ranked by the users and you would be given the top rated when you click on a category.

So basically its a site full of links?

What is its use? I have my favourites bar to do give me a page full of links or my frequently used tab (safari) to visit my most used websites...

instead of dumping everything on the home page itself. you can use menu bar and separate these topics on different pages.

more over add footer section to give some more links like contact us, feedback form, sitemap etc...
