Gemini, no offense, but all you seem to do in this part of the forum is copy and paste stuff you've found from other sites...

Yes I know I'm not an SEO expert. But I don't like a few of the tips.

 

"Be bold" - I know it seems to be important to people, but I approach copy 'semantically' and, I use bold because the copy warrants it. if it's written well then that will be on a so-called 'keyword'. That's how I manage not to wreck a page with random emphasis that destroys the flow of the content. That's what the 'tip' should say. Oh, and who uses '<b>' any more? I thought it was deprecated and it's '<strong>' now?

 

"Become a foreigner" - setting-up a business address in a foreign country just to get into some directories sounds a bit drastic to me and goes against the point of local directories. I already don't like the fact that if I search for 'pages from the UK' I get results from all over the world and if I put a specific town in I get sites nothing to do with it but have stuffed their sites with every town name in the world. Seems a bit 'black hat' to me.

 

"First come, first served" - I'm not a designer either, but a good navigation bar is done with CSS and doesn't have an image in the XHTML - it's just an anchor with a link (usually in an unordered list).

 

That's just me though - I don't like the 'tricks and tips' style of SEO. If Google made a couple of minor changes (e.g. got fed-up with '<strong>' tags being abused) then they're rendered useless. But the good principles of SEO are more effective and, no matter the actual algorithm, would always work.

Sorry if you're misinterpreted my post, not all of them are copy paste. And it's just natural to share what you've found interesting, sorry if you don't like them... I'm not an expert as you are..

 

I do like to read from forums, lots of them, and I see a lot of people doing the same as long as you provide the link or the Author's name. You can tell me just anything you don't like about my posts, no harm done

let's not be harsh to G here. posting interesting articles is helpful to all of us. I didn't get a chance to look at the article yet but I do agree that some of the points from what other people say is a bit drastic. I do know a great SEO guy who really knows his stuff.
