Is it ok to copy and paste to our blog?

Featured Replies

Hi forum experts,

I'm facing some real problem here as in I don't really have the time to write. And when I write I worry about my English.

Can I know is it alright I curate the materials and then copy and paste to my blog for my readers, and stating the source?

In reality you would want to be linking to the actual articles or citing some of the work with a suitable link back to the text. As a writer myself, I would be pretty peeved if someone was copying my work directly into their own blogs. A link is fine, but not the whole lot without the authors/blog owners position.

There's no reason why you can't link and acknowledge articles within your work but I find having a blog in a language you may not feel comfortable with as a little superfluous. Instead it might be a better idea to get someone else to write for you or have a stab and writing something original. The amount of times I've seen 'companies' from certain locations that copy and paste articles directly into their blogs to generate traffic is insane.

Sure, you did say you'd cite the source which is better than most, but you still should check with the author/owner first. Some may be ok with it. Personally, if I've written a an article for a publication which then appears on the web without my permission, I'd follow up with appropriate action.

Do you not have a social media account you can use like Twitter? Posting a link to an article that already exists that way is super simple - no need to write the text but linked up to see it in it's full glory (your own styling to the text may not sit too well with the author as well - Comic Sans anyone).

Anyway, long reply there but that's my thoughts.

I have had this problem before, so I hired someone to write blog articles on different subjects.

Easy and problem solved!

Much better than copy pasting, as 1. You get unique content and 2. Readers hate a short blurb that sends them to a different site to read the full article.

If you are copying from some other site or blog and pasting it in your blog, then your website ranking can decrease. Google always prefer unique content and when you will post duplicate content , then it will surely affect your site ranking.

It is bad to copy and paste other blog content on your blog, if you copy paste other content on your blog, then your webiste ranking can down, because google always like unique and qaulity content.

"Stellar" from Indian, you look and sound like a spambot.

Well, biased as I am from from a writers perspective, I'm urinating in the wind - it seems being penalised by Google is more important than lifting text from someone else's hardwork (unless of course the author/owner permits it).

From a mod perspective, it would be nice if some members read the guidelines here. Ignoring posts before and just regurgitating definitions or copy and pasting just seems superfluous.
