June 1, 200818 yr Hi guys, I've never worked to a day rate before but I now have a client who wants me to. I wanted to know if there's anything special I need to know about the positives/negitives of working to a day rate. I'm also wondering if I work 3.5 days do I invoice for a half day or would I just round up? How does billing for day rates work? Thanks a lot, TG
June 3, 200818 yr Day rate? I never heard of that. Why not bill by hour instead? Because "a day" is ambiguous. Some people work 6 hours days and other people work 10 hour days. The standard workday in United States is 8 hours, but in France it is more like 7.
June 3, 200818 yr This varies industry to industry, then within each industry - town to town, person to person, company to compnay and more. A practical approach is to say (durations of course are up to you); Day Rate - upto 10 hours Overtime rate - applicable to above if exceeds 10 hours 1/2 day rate - Any day under 6 hours when contracted on a daily basis Hourly rate Job rate
