Website Design - Embedded Photo Format

Featured Replies

Hi,

We have embedded several images to the sub-pages of our website http://www.aljoufilaw.com/ar/.

We currently used JPEG format for these photos. But we would like to know if there are better format to use to achieve better quality and high resolution. We are considering to try PNG but we don't know the significant use of this format and its difference with JPEG.

We appreciate it if you could help us with this matter. Thanks.

Shouldn't really be able to tell the difference in quality I would say between PNG and JPEG.

PNG files may be slightly larger but server speeds etc shouldn't really be that affected by switching.

The bonus of PNG is also that it supports transparency.

pngs will be significantly larger - unless you have jpeg that's hardly compresses at all and supporting transparency is only a bonus if you need it ;)

just use a properly optimised jpeg
