OK I asked the question about image maps (and thanks to all that replied!) However I'm looking to inject Fireworks HTML with the the header to allow links, now my question is how, im aware that it is PHP but can you just inject the code in that file?

You need to find the template file for the header and write your HTML in there (wherever you want it to go). As I don't touch Zencart with a barge pole I'm assuming there's atemplate file called header.tpl or something similar?
