is this legal?

Featured Replies

not sure if this is the right place to post.

ive had an idea for my site where you search something and it sources links for items for sale from others sites that hold the listing. ive seen this from various sites ive visted but is it legal? im thinking it would be since when you click the link it would send you to the site of origin. thoughts?

thanks

Yes, it's legal. Obviously you might have to consider copyrighted images and content, but this is relatively easy to overcome. What you've described is basically how Google works.

You might want to put a small disclaimer in your footer as well that you are not the owner of any of the items, etc. Not that you are legally obliged, just looks ethical.

Why would the originating site mind you bringing traffic for them and who might end up making a purchase as well. If you have a strong case that will create a lot of traffic for the site, you could neqotiate and get commission.

Completely legal, as long as you respect their copyright.

What it isn't, is a design and layout issue. Moved to Freelancing, Business and Legal; post in the right board in future.
