First thoughts, I really don't like the pink and blue colour scheme, also the drop shadows are much too big. You need more padding on the left side and one more thought, I'd add a roll-over state to the menu items and links.

I was going to add a little more flare to the menu with roll overs as my last adjustment, I see what you mean about the padding but the color scheme is actually blue and tan.

tone down the tan

logo looks a bit rough - try making it at 4 times the size then save a copy as a png or tiff then resize to exactly one quarter - should help (at least the a in the circle)

the lined paper/notes look out of place - like you took them from a school website

i never use fully justified text because it just doesn't work robustly enough on the web

there's something about the mix of stlyes that doesn't work - the slick logo and nav (reminds me in a good way of mercedes) the out of place school notes, then the coloured header bits (e.g. the red blocks)

Firstly I don't like the pink background, the smaller text should be a little bigger and slightly darker. Google some tips on SEO, meta tags would be a good start. Nice simple tidy site though, I like it.

You have so much space to use, use it! Bigger navigation buttons, more padding, bigger font size, etc. But maybe spacious websites are my thing :p

Not a fan of the pink background as well.

I do see the loading issue on the main page that I do need to address, but I am uncertain as to way everyone sees this background as pink when it is actually a light tan color.

Are you on a free host?

I can't see anything on the page that'd be a large download so I've no idea why it's so slow, except a crappy host.

No it's not free, I'm on host monster.

the color combination which you are using is not attractive.. do some change and make it attractive...
